Concert Review: CMU Faculty Recital Reports Examples

The concert held at CMU’s Staples Concert Hall was a brilliant concert featuring the combined music from the late 19th century up to the 20th century. The music of the event was astounding since most of the pieces were written by the celebrated figures in the music industry. Two well-known guests also attended the event such as Donna Shin and Carrie Pierce, the former who was known for her musical work and a professor from the University of Washington while Carrie Pierce was brilliant flute sounds managed to enthrall the audience with rhythmic patterns of melodies creating a chiaroscuro of light melodies with occasional hints of a much bolder and darker overtures. Shin’s fluting technique was amazing and great for it mimics the simple sounds of the nature and creates a rather Impressionist style-music through the subtle playfulness of the notes characterized by andante at first then the increasing tempo combines soft sounds that were both haunting and seductive at the same time. The rest of the concert also played numerous classics featuring Tchaikovsky’s pieces and many other late 19th century composers. The performers did absolute justice by mixing their own renditions of the music without altering the original sounds of the pieces. The subtle hints of mellow tunes on each musical piece performed create a dramatic ambience of combined Baroque-Romantic period music with great emphasis on the narrative properties of music both as a storyteller of the actions performed.
Altogether, the music concert was a lavish banquet of sounds from the previous centuries to the contemporary times. It was a thrilling experience for audiences to become part of the most dramatic rendition of the notable classical works.
