If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Chicago. There are several reasons that I would choose this city. If I lived in Chicago, I would enjoy its active nightlife. Chicago is the heartbeat of the Midwestern United States, and offers unique, diverse employment opportunities. From the high-tech industry to fashion and the arts, the third-largest city in the US has quite a palette of possible career prospects. In a city like Chicago, I would network more with others who have the same interests. Lastly, access to more institutions of higher learning make Chicago a special metropolis would help me further my education.
If I could trade lives with anyone in the world, it would be Stephen Hawking. If I were Hawking, I would be confined to a wheelchair, but I would have one of the greatest minds on the planet. In one day, Hawking travels from galaxy to galaxy in his mind. He has explored the planets, and developed theories of physics, cosmology, philosophy, and has even speculated about alien contact. Hawking has written several books, and his intellect is an example of the triumph of mind over matter. Doubtless, I would be a more accomplished person if I were Stephen Hawking. If I were Hawking, I would be on the lecture circuit as well.
If I had been born in another country, my life would be very different. For example, I was born in China. If I were born in the United States, I would probably have less respect for my elders. Respect for elders is a venerated tradition in China. In many ways, I am grateful that I was born in China. Being born in China has provided me with a different cultural upbringing. If I were not born in China, I would not have experienced as many hardships. Also, If I were born in the US, I would be a bit more spoiled.
If I could give one device to a person from the past, I would give a computer to Nikola Tesla, the discoverer of alternating current. It is my hope that a computer would free up a lot of time for this already-busy man, allowing him to invent more things for humanity's advancement. If Tesla had a computer, he would be able to design things that he only could previously imagine. A computer would be the perfect gift for a man like Nikola Tesla. If Tesla could have advanced computer engineering in the late-19th century, it would help humanity evolve even more.
