Contingency Plan Outline
The error made by the reservation department has resulted to two major conventions happening on the same day. The resort does not have sufficient number of rooms and the meeting space will not accommodate both conventions (Mathis, & Jackson, 2009). As a result, there is need to develop a contingency plan that will cater for the mishap, and leave the customers happy and satisfied. The management will be forced to book some one of the meetings in another resort that is of the same class. This poses challenges both for human resource department and reservations department. This essay describes some of the risk assessment strategies and contingency plan for the human resource issues that may arise.
Transport: The resort will be faced with transport issues as the convention participant will require transport to the new resort. The human resource department will have to plan how to avail competent drivers for this endeavor. The resort will also have to provide any other transportation needs that may arise due to the inconveniences caused by moving the visitors to this new location (Mathis, & Jackson, 2009).
Accompanying Staff: to ensure quality service at per with the service at the resort, human resource manager may have to assign some of the staffs to accompany the group that will go to the new resort. The challenge of balancing the human resource to be assigned to this group and the strain it will have of the resort is worth considering (Mathis, & Jackson, 2009).
Competence of the reservations Department: the human resource department will have to assess the circumstances that led to double booking. Was it due to incompetence or was it strategic? If it is due to incompetence, the human resource manager will have to decide whether to issue a warning or to consider training or hiring competent individuals. If it was strategic, then a plan must have been in place to deal with the challenges that may arise.
