I have always been interested in selecting a career path that covers my educational needs and that, which provides me with proper skills to handle my job. The traditional bachelor’s degree programs as well as the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Degree requires fair amount of formal college level academic proficiency in different basic areas such as political science, English, philosophy, history, sociology, and the natural sciences such as chemistry, math, biology, and physics. However, despite these similarities, the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) is more of a vocational degree, which provides the learners with the preparations for specific occupations or career paths. As a learner, I believe that my career path requires vocational training, which provides the relevant skills to handle the challenges and appreciates the rewards of the profession. The BAAS degree is one of the best choices that can offer such proficient training.
My main aim as a student is to land network administration jobs in reputable and well compensating institutions, which require a bachelor’s degree. I intend to use my real world work experience and my technical degree from the local technical college to pursue a bachelor’s degree, which is tailored to job specific training, and offers me the opportunities for further career development in diverse fields. I am aware of the fact that, the traditional bachelor’s degree programs are well known and popular among the learners. However, the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) is designed for mature learners like me, who need individualized academic programs, which award credit for the non traditional forms of learning. The BAAS degree program gives the working adults a faster route to a bachelor’s degree through earning credit for non-college instruction, work experience, and test scores.
Some of the reasons that accelerated my desire for Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) are the requirements which include the full completion of course work for technical, military and applied credit, an applied or technical degree from a technical or community college. Additionally, I have loved the fact that, the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS), in addition to accepting these unique types of credits, it also helps in limiting the number of transfer credit hours that I can lose in the traditional degree programs. As an individual with real world work experience in administrations, and intending to pursue the degree program, which is tailored to offering my career needs, I prefer the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) since it provides job specific training. Apart from my high school teaching and administration interest, I intend to use my Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) as a boost to pursue other fields such as criminal justice and social work. However, I would need to settle in the teaching and administration first before deciding on the latter options.
Finally, the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) degree provides a multidisciplinary focus, which is designed to build on general coursework credits. The disciplines mentioned above such as political science, English, philosophy, history, sociology, and the natural sciences synchronously work to address my career objectives as a manger, educator, and other disciplines including criminal justice and social work. This is particularly important due to the fact that I intend to pursue more than one career. I believe that the BAAS degree program is the best option and the aforementioned are the reasons that led me to choosing the program.
