EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Information technology is an important aspect of business processes. There is a need to have information technologies put in place to ensure that the business processes that are included in the company. For these information systems to be integrated in the company there is a need to have the infrastructure of the company and the processes aligned and prepared for effective service delivery. There is a need to have infrastructure in place to make sure that the capacity of the new systems is supported. The information systems are required to ensure that the data flow and flow in the company will be smooth and meet the requirements of the company.
There is a need to have information systems personnel who will be tasked with undertaking the integration of the information systems. The personnel required include systems administrator who will be required to undertake an analysis of information systems and then relate with the business requirements of the company. These personnel will be involved in the whole process of the company. There will also be the inclusion of network administrator. It is important to have these personnel because of the extensive use of network technologies in the company. These personnel will be tasked with the different networks and designing new network requirements in the company. There will also be the need to have a database administrator will be tasked with designing the database that will be used by the company. The database administrator will be concerned with the key data person who will design the data use and networks in the company. There will also be the system analyst who will help in the analysis of different information systems and the user requirements (Marchewka, 2009).
The first phase of the project will be to assess the business requirements of the company. In the integration of information technologies in the company, there will be the need to have business requirements undertaken for the company. This will be undertaken by the system analyst and the various staff who will be included in this process.
Scope of the project – the scope of the project will entail developing an information infrastructure that will gather the requirements of the new organization. The infrastructure will entail the networks that will be used in handling communications within the company. The network will cover the use of current technologies in tandem with current trends in networking technology. The network will include integrating cloud technology and business analytics. These are important concepts of business processes as they help in integrating business processes to the company. There will also be the integration of database management and data warehouse house design. This will help in having alignment of data in the company. It will also help in the design of current processes and issues in the management of data. Data mining is an important concept in data management because with this concept, there will be new insights into how the business will be managed for better profitability. The project will also entail having a good reporting process which will help in getting reports from the database. The new design and information systems will be important in getting important insights of business processes (Lin, Hwang, & Baker, 2012).
Control measures – there will be the use of control measures to ensure that the project is on course and on budget that has been allocated before. One of the control measures that will be used in the project is the cost of the project. The projected budget is approximately $250,000. This will be the control measure that will be used to measure if the project is on course. If there will be business processes and technologies that will be costly, it will mean that the technology is not required in the integration process. Another control measure is the use of time. If there will be a process that will take more time, it will mean that it is not required (Schwalbe, 2010).
Goals and objectives – the project will be guided by goals and objectives. These are the targets and the baselines that the project will be based. It is important to understand the requirements of the project.
- The first goal of the project is to have a robust network that will take into consideration the business requirements. This goal will require that there be a network that will be able to take into consideration the data flow and the ease of use of the network.
- The second goal is to have security achieved in the design of the network that will be used by the company. This is an important concept in the whole process of improving the technology of the company. Security is an important aspect of the company as it will be the basis in which data will get the required protection.
- The third goal is to have a good database and data warehouse design that will consider the data needs of the company. This is important to ensure that the data reporting and analysis procedure is well integrated.
- Another goal and objective of the project is to have an efficient data analytics of the business processes. This has been poorly done in the company. There is a need to have a way in which this will be achieved in the company. This will ensure that the data mining process will be undertaken professionally.
- Another goal of the project is to have cloud computing integrated to the computer network. This is an important technology that has been introduced and is being adopted by many companies. It helps the company have cheaper ways of storage.
Project deliverables – there will be various deliverables which will be undertaken in the project. These project deliverables will be used to gauge the success of the project and the extent to which the project has been undertaken. The first project deliverable will be the definition of the business concept. This is where there will be a clear description of the needs that the company needs in order to have a better and integrated business process. This deliverable will be used to show what needs to be achieved and undertaken after the project has been completed. It is important to understand the needs that the company has to meet in order to be considered to have integrated current trends in information technology.
First deliverable - the first deliverable is having an inception plan. This is the plan and blueprint that will be used to develop the objectives of the project. This inception plan will be the defining template that will be used to gauge the requirements of the company. It is important to understand the project requirements and the role it plays in the business. The project inception plan will help in understanding the status of the business processes and the technological needs of the company.
Second deliverable – the second deliverable is having business requirements. This is an important concept that should be included in the project. It is important to understand what the business requires and how the business will benefit from the new information systems that will be integrated. It is important to understand the business and how the various entities operate. This is important to have business requirements laid out. This will help in designing the various systems in the company. The programmers and the information systems implementers will make use of the business requirements in designing the new systems that will be used. This is an important deliverable in the process (Kerzner, 2013).
Third deliverable – the third deliverable of the project is database and data warehouse design. This is an important concept and aspect of the project. This is because of the fact that the company depends on the data in most of the processes. It is important to have good data systems that are well designed. A good data warehouse design will be a parameter and deliverable that will mean that the way data is accessed will be of paramount importance. This deliverable is important and will ensure that the data relationship management within the company is managed effectively (Jiang, Dawson-Haggerty, Dutta, & Culler, 2009).
Fourth deliverable – the fourth deliverable of the company is undertaking the business analytics. This will be an important aspect as the reports of the company and how the business responds to various business needs will be attained.
Fifth deliverable – the fifth deliverable will be to have a good network infrastructure. Network infrastructure is an important aspect of any organization as it enables communication in the organization to be easily achieved. Computer networks are an important part of any communication network. This deliverable will also integrate security aspect of the network. Having a robust network that lacks in security is not a viable solution to solving business requirements. It is important to have a robust computer networks in an organization. This is a vital deliverable as it will determine the success of the other deliverables. The network is expected to look like the one below:
The cost of the project will be based on the various activities that will be undertaken. One cost that will be involved is in the process of getting the infrastructural equipment that will be used in the upgrade. There will be the human capital that will be involved in the project.
The summary of the project is undertaken below:
There are costs which are met only once. These have been indicated as initial setup costs. There will be monthly and yearly charges for some services which have been indicated. From the budget, it is important to note that the initial costs and financial projections of the company.
Competitive advantage – the value of the implementation of the various technologies will bring a competitive advantage to the organization. There is a need to ensure that the project comes out successful. One of the values is getting insights of the data that is being processed. With the use of data and information from the business processes, the company will get the insights and improvements that come out of the customer trends. This is a competitive advantage that will be obtained from the technology. Another value is that one that we get from using automated processing. With the use of information systems, there will be improved processing of information. There will also be the value that we will get from using cloud computing. This is because of the fact that cloud will eradicate the costs of business processes and storage that is done in the cloud. The development of good infrastructure in the company will improve communication and access of information.
Solution providers – there will be the various providers who are important in the implementation of this plan. I would recommend Google as a solution provider to the Analytics, and Cloud technology. Another service provider I would recommend is the use of Oracle Company to implement database management and data warehouse. These companies have renowned brand and have the best technologies that can be implemented in the company.
