- Graphs are a way to convey information and trends in a convenient fashion. For this week's Discussion Board you should search the internet for a graph related to biology. Provide us with a link to the graph, describe the variables, and interpret the meaning of the graph. I recommend that you choose a graph that concerns a biological subject that you find interesting.
This graph is about the growth curve of bacteria. In the x-axis, the variable is time, and in the Y-axis, the variable is the given number of microbes. As time progresses, bacterial growth undergoes various phases: These entail the lag phase, the log phase, stationary phase and death phase. Lag phase is the initial phase and there is little increase in bacterial population since at this stage there is adaptation to the given environment plus maturing. In log phase, there is bacterial reproduction leading to a markedly rise in its population. In the stationary phase, bacterial reproduction equals bacterial death. In the death phase, bacterial death exceeds bacterial reproduction. In the graph, an overview of how bacterial population behaves in a given environment is displayed hence making interpretation of results easy.
- In this week's discussion board provide links to the nutrition information for 2 products. The nutrition information should be the type you find on the side of a food product that lists serving size etc. One food product should be healthy. Explain why it is healthy. The second food product should be unhealthy. Explain why it is unhealthy.
Eggs are generally healthy foods. The egg yolk is a highly nutritious product that provides tons of nutrients to a human body. Eggs generally contain important vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for the development of a normal human body structure. Its highly protenaceous, and also contains some degree of both carbohydrates and lipids. It also contains important vitamins that help in prevention of certain diseases and replenish stores of certain chemicals which the body requires.
Fried Fat foods
Fried fat foods are essentially harmful to our body. Such foods often contain unsaturated fatty acids that render harm to the body by increasing the risk of development of cardiovascular diseases. Solid fats usually clog the blood vessels and result to atherosclerosis or the development of atheromas in the blood vessels leading to the occurrence of hypertension in such individuals.
