Transportation sector plays a pivotal role for the economic development of a country. The secretaries of transportation agencies particularly Bureau of Transportation Statistics and Surface Transportation Board need to evaluate different indicators for sustainable growth and development of the respective departments.
Rationale for Bureau of Transportation Statistics
Bureau of Transportation Statistics focused on the performance, condition, and development of the transportation system of United States. Furthermore, it concentrates on collection, examination and releasing of data gaps for improvement of transport statistics portals (Department of Transportation, 2014).
The approximated value of U.S. transportation properties in 2010 was more than $7 trillion. The private companies ships and freight get lots of business each year. Transportation sector provide huge investment, jobs and facilitate household industry.
My Rationale for Surface Transportation Board

The regulatory function of this body includes railroads, pipeline carriers, water carriers, moving van companies, intercity bus carriers and so forth. (“Surface Transportation Board”, 2013).
With a raising worldwide concern for the atmosphere, logistics and freight carriers have started paying attentions for their operations. This is need of time to take remedial measures against pollution to protect the environment by Surface Transportation Board (Demir et al., 2014).
In conclusion, the roles of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and Surface Transport Board are indispensable. Transportation is a very important feature in the United States and these bodies play good roles to regulate the various processes and ensure efficiency in the operations.
