There are various modes of data collection in research. One of the prices sources f data is interview, where the research team engages persons in a one on one discussion so as to get the root of the matter being researched on (Robinson, 2010). This can be done face-to-to-face, telephone interview, or even e-interview. In this paper, I narrate the findings that I got after interviewing one of departmental heads in our campus and the football team captain still in our campus. In the interview, I approached it using social conflict Marxist theory.
The first interview I held with the head of the games department in the campus; he is a relatively wealth former lecturer, and teaching staff team captain. He played professional rugby during his youth and won national favor. From our discussion he expressed a lot of confidence in his vast skill and also portrayed confidence in his own leadership. While the department that he heads has been a center of various controversies in the recent pats; ranging from cancelled trips to cases of mismanagement of funds, he defended himself arguing that there are a few individuals who are envious of his hard gotten investments and think they can use his position to chop some from him (Robinson, 2010).
He explained the difference between the days that he played professionally and the current crop of players. In his words, the current generation is overambitious on earning that building a legacy and career. He also expressed fears on the amounts that the sportsmen some hardly out of their youth life are getting (Peter, 2008). This he said has lad to the increase in cases of unbecoming behavior among sports men.
The second interview was with the campus football captain. He has been among the persons that the head of the department say have been psychologically affected by the lots of money they get from their play. However, the captain defends himself and urges that there is no sin in getting a good earning while young. He directed an accusing finger on the old generation of leaders who have been making deliberation that have been backdated. He said given a chance he would ensure that the leadership of the games should be left to more youthful persons (Covell, 2007). He even vowed to mobilize fellow games leaders in forcing the school management to look into the matter in their favor.
Interview as a research method
The disadvantage that this kind of research method faces and which personally I faced was time factor. Most people believe in utilizing a lot of time in explanations (Cargan, 2007). Even some information that I had was repeated over and over again which result to monotony of some topics. Also, the memory of human being is not fine. This means that getting uncertain information is common
