1. What would you do if you found an elephant in your back yard?
If I found an elephant in my back yard I would be really surprised and excited. An elephant! Who would have though?! I’ve only seen elephants at the zoo but seeing one in real life, right in front of me – that would as if jumping into the “Aladdin” cartoon! The first thing I would do is try to figure out what mood his is in. Happy or sad really makes the difference, wouldn’t you agree? If the elephant seems ready to smile down at me, then this would make things really easy. First thing that come to my mind – play with him! Besides, he is probably lost and wouldn’t mind having a friend. Our game would probably have to be rather special, since I don’t want him to crushing my house. I’ll still need somewhere to live in after he is done. Perhaps he could lift me up with his trunk? That would be amazing! But if he was in a bad mood or even angry or scared, then I would most definitely start with calling for mom. She’s ready to protect me even from a huge elephant which appeared out of nowhere in our back yard. I’d probably end up being yelled at in the end of the day though. Who would believe me that I had nothing to do with an elephant behind my house? However, every little fairy tale must come to an end. The poor little creature will probably have to be collected by some guys in uniform.
2. What current event is of a particular interest to you? Why?
I think that global warming is a something everyone should know about. It’s part of our lives, part of our future and part of our planet’s health. If we don’t take care of mother Earth, who will? It is high time people take global warming seriously. Only we can make sure that our home stays healthy and beautiful. We have learned about this process in school and I’m glad that now I know something that can have such a great influence on the way we look. Surprisingly, not enough attention is drawn to this issue. Are people not afraid of finding so many states underwater? I hope that humanity will learn and learn fast.
3. Describe your favorite hour of the day?
My favorite hour of the day is the first hour after I wake up on Sunday morning. It is especially amazing if the blinds in my room are open and the sunshine comes in to wake me up from my sweet weekend dreams. It’s as if you are in a little fairytale and little magical fairies stir you. It’s the perfect time to fly away to a dream world and picture myself in a beautiful garden full of magnificent flowers, in a beautiful dress with butterflies and birds flying around me. After a good night sleep, this hour seems to last so long and so I can imagine anything I want. Every Sunday it’s something different. But every Sunday is it just as enjoyable. Even the end of the hour is nice. After waking up to sunshine and spending time in the dream world, it is the perfect place to be home and go down for breakfast. Besides, nobody ever mentions just how much energy you need to be able to smile for one whole hour! That’s why I’m always supper hungry when I go down on Sunday morning. A good breakfast with mom’s waffles and maple syrup is just what the doctor ordered.
4. What three questions should be on our application for the next year?
1. Describe your perfect day.
2. What three wishes would you make if you found a genii lamp?
3. Describe what you do apart from school.
5. If you could meet any 3 people throughout history, whom would you like to meet? Why?
I would meet Walt Disney. I love all of the old and new Disney movies. They are always so funny and exiting. When you first see them, they all seem really similar and fairytale-like. But this is what makes them so great! Their sweet stories of princesses and pirates, the pretty dresses for girls and the fighting for boys, topped off by a happy ending. What could be more enjoyable? I think that the person who was able to start such a wonderful thing must be amazing and a child at heart. It would be great to be able to meet him in person and see how such a grown up man can create something so great for kids. Perhaps we could go ice-skating together?
Another person I would love to meet is Abraham Lincoln. He is obviously one of the most important presidents of the USA. His picture is everywhere during Independence Day. But he was not the first president of our country. Then why is he the one on all of the posters, flags, cakes, candies and even cupcakes? I think that he must have been a really interesting, intelligent and great man for people to value him so much. I have also seen a movie with him and would love to find out if in real life he is as nice as the actor made him in the movie.
It would be great to meet one of the pilgrims as well. When they moved to the new world their life must have been really difficult. We’ve learned a lot about them in school and we’ve visited some places that tell about them with my family. But I still think that hearing how life was like from a real person would be an experience of a lifetime. Besides, who else would be able to tell me about the fashion, humor and dances of that time?
6. Describe an accomplishment you are proud of.
I am really proud to be a dancer. I have been dancing for a couple of year now and I really love doing it. It is not easy and takes up a lot more time and energy than I ever imagined it would. When I first joined, it was extremely difficult for me. I didn’t know anybody and was completely out of the loop. I am so glad that I stuck to my classes and made it to our first performance. It was a day to remember! I felt extremely proud to see my parents smiling and clapping after my performance.
