Road rage is a situation in which there is a form of violence on the roads. As the words suggest, it is clear to understand the meaning of the two words. Independently, they bring up no meaning close to the one that they have when combined. In a nutshell, one cannot term as a road rage, any rage incident that happens away from the roads.
As it happens on the roads, the incidents in most cases involve drivers. It is, for example an offense to drive above the speed limit in many countries such as America and Saudi Arabia. There comes a time when some drivers want to speed more than others and in the course of this, there may be some accidents happening. These is enough to trigger a road rage situation now that one or both the drivers flout and ignore traffic rules and in the process lead to destruction of their vehicles. That’s a road rage situation involving drivers.
Moreover, road rage incidences may also involve pedestrians and drivers. Once in a while, drivers are sometimes not considerate of the pedestrians on the sidewalk, and may do some things that may anger the pedestrians triggering the pedestrian’s rage. A good example is in the case that there is a pool of water in a pothole on the road and the driver drives right into it splashing dirty water on the pedestrian. The angry pedestrian then hurls insults at the passing driver.
Road rage may also involve physical confrontation in addition to use of vulgar language. There is this time I was driving out of the parking lot and this driver suddenly pulls out of nowhere. The driver wanted to go into another parking space but was waiting for another vehicle to pull out. I was in a hurry but this other driver did not reverse his vehicle for me to pass. I hooted at him to the point that he got out of the vehicle in such a way as to portray he wanted to fight me for my impatience. Now that was one driver I have met that let rage take over him.
Conclusively, road rage incidences are events that occur due to challenges in anger management and disrespect of other people. If all the road users become careful of these two facts, there will be reduced road rage incidents on the roads in the future.
