Tolle (2005) identifies th epain body as the negative energy field that occupies an individual’s mind. It does exist inn two forms: the dormant and the active phase. The dormant phase is quite harmless as an individual is yet to fall a victim of the negative ennergy field. However, once this energy goes to the positive, an individual becomes quite vulnerable. This is because the field will start picking and reflectiong negative feelings, ideas and perspectives to the individual. This field is more emotional, and only gets to be active when an individual decides to give it a free reign.
It is commonly said that an individual can choose what he wants to be by simply making choices. Tolle’s view of the pain body supports this idea. He argues that unless an individual lets the feeling take its course, then the feeling can be kept under control. However, it cannot be controlled by avoiding it. Rather, it is by accepting that the feeling does exist, and therefore make a concious decision not to be governed by it. That is, Tolle (2005), a spiritual educator, concludes that the feelings and the situations that an individual goes through are a function of their minds, which comes about as a result of the individual’s acceptance.
The pain body feeds on pain. This goes by the rule of nature that situations reflect on themselves or are mirror images of their precursors. As such, the pain body cannot come about through feelings of joy and happiness. Rather, it tries to create a sought of feedback mechanism where negative events occur in the individual’s life so as to maintain the feeling. As a mateer of fact, the feeling rresonates with its nature of energy, creating situations that cause more pain. These can range from hatred, destructiveness, anger, violence, emotional drama, destructivesness, emotional grief, and illness.
For these situations to be created, an individual must identify with the feelings and own them up. Only then can they become active. For instance, an individual can accept things such as a negative attitude, an inclination to violence, among others. Owning these feelings makes one a slave of the same. The worst thing is that to maintain such a standing, it has to replicated withinn the individual, or even transferred from one person to another. As such, the pain body can be extended from one individual to another, in a bid to maintain the negative field (Tolle, 2005).
Human beings have the ability to control everything that occurs in their lives.they can make choices as to what to adopt and what not to. Tolle (2005) argues that the pain body only comes about when an individual gives it a free reign. As such, an individual can decide not to let this negative body take control of his body. This has to be a conscious, deliberate move to control one’s inner being. Once this inner person is under control, the pain body which is an impostor of the individual’s self is put to an end. The individual therefore becomes free and can make concious decisions of the situations to accept and live with. This creates a sense of freedom and self-consciousness. Therefore, if an individual has to live a comfortable and happy life, he has to get control of the pain body. On;y then can the true personality of the person be revealed.
