Conclusion
During this lab session, I benefitted by learning basic configuration techniques for windows server 2008. Such information included the computer name, configuration date and time. I learnt how the basic operations of windows server work in a windows server 2008 platform.
Conclusion
For this particular lab, I was oriented to two different servers, i.e. DHCP server and DNS server. The two servers are fundamental in networks owing to the fact that they allow efficient management of the IP address allocation and name convention. Servers are vulnerable to numerous problems without these two servers. In addition, I leant how to configure and install them.
Conclusion
This chapter was an introductory session to the concept of Active Directory. I got acquainted with its installation and configuration process which included creating forests for adding and deleting, creating domains, as well as the administration of domains.
Conclusion
This chapter was helpful in enabling me to be able to learn the operation of remote desktop connection, the installation and configuration thereof. I am now familiar with the concept of RDP protocol and connections in remote environments. The general knowledge I obtained on the operation of remote desktop was impressive.
Conclusion
I was oriented to the installation of printers into networks and how to add them in the active directory as well as the creation of DFS namespace. It was a great experience learning how to install file and print services.
Conclusion
This chapter provided direction on how to create a partition in a disc space which is not allocated. In addition, I learnt how to compress volume size in used disc space. We were also familiarized with software for achieving the task of

2008 server. An interesting concept I learnt was the installation of network load
Balancer. As a result, I was now able to appreciate why these two components
are not only independent, but also very important.
Conclusion
This lab acquainted me with the creation of users, shares and groups. I learned
how users can be created and subsequent addition to a network group. Though I
was also oriented to the concept of sharing, I considered it not to be of much use
Conclusion
This lab enabled me to learn a very critical concept- how to secure an connection
over a medium that is insecure. VPN is of great concern in relation to network
security, and its configuration will be of use in securing my operations in the
internet. A digital certificate, another security measure, was another important
concept and its installation will be of utility in securing connections to remote
machines
Conclusion
I learnt about MMC in this lab, MMC being a console where a person can effect
a variety of changes to a server. Though a fanciful concept, I did not find it very
useful to me.
Conclusion
This lab enabled me to orient myself with event viewer, and why an administrator
ought to be familiar with its operation, especially its importance in
troubleshooting. I found the concept of performance monitor quite intriguing, and
how the reliability monitor is an important tool for monitoring the overall condition
of the computer system.
Conclusion
This lab was about backup, an important concept in helping organizations not to
completely lose their data. Since data has such a big place in an organization,
indeed the backbone of it, organizations would be in deep trouble without proper
back up. I was able to learn how to do back up either regularly or at intervals in
my computer. A command line, wbadmin, is one back up tool that I familiarized
myself with during this lab.
