Creative Writing On What Is Writing

Mason Cooley once said, “There are different rules for reading, for thinking, and for talking. Writing blends all three of them.”(Cooley). I believe that the main purpose of writing is to include a range of skills necessary for the quality of expression, communication and learning. Through writing, a person is able to express their personal ideas, opinions, and feelings to a larger audience.
Writing can be defined in many different manners, but as a whole writing is a method of representing language in visual format. Different writing systems mimic speech sounds or symbols. In a written text interaction space is important, allowing for knowledgeable self-learning and social interaction. Writing serves as a means to express you learning and intellectual abilities to others in a visible manner. It also serves as a medium in which to make this information a permanent contribution to society. Many use the written language to pose questions to the rest of society to evoke thought or emotion.
Reading and writing are two things cannot be separated, such as the heart and soul in the body of an organism. However different factors do affect how we interpret written language. These can include; family, societal, and cultural values, as well as academic qualifications and educational standards.
In conclusion, analytically to be considered writing it should meet the following criteria; 1. Have a purpose of communication, 2. Consist of graphic marks upon a surface, and 3. Use these marks to relate speech. From a communication stand point, the written word is used to convey thoughts, emotions, opinions and record significant events that allows for social or personal significance.
