Creativity may be defined as the novelty, originality, and appropriateness to bring uniqueness on a given element. Novelty and appropriateness are the major elements that get used to define creativity. A creative person is a person with fair routine of producing creative results. This means that he or she has to be original all the time he or she intends to make a presentation. For an element to be regarded to as creative, the idea that has been used must be new. This allows people to appreciate and use the existing forms of writing in the best way.
Written creativity may be defined as the ability to combine novelty, originality and extensive appropriateness of given styles in writing. At current times, there are extremely many writers who want to specialize on different forms of writing. Therefore, there is exclusive need for writers to emphasize on creativity. Since it may be difficult to come up with new forms of writing, a person may develop uniqueness in improving the existing forms of writing. Writing has grown from the art of paper and ink to content based forms of writing. Writers must be people who are ready to move out and explore the new things that they may bring into the field. Following the rise of expertise or creativity in writing, formats for different forms of writing have been developed, with people trying to justify the new styles that they introduce into the field of writing (Biber & Leavy, 2006).
Although, there are ranges of writings that continue to be sued by individuals, in their daily living, it would be wise to narrow down to the most critical or common forms of writing. These should be writings that people will continue to use in all the days they engage in formal communication. The world is changing, and the change should be witnessed even in fields such as writing. The forms of writing that would continue being used in everyday writing are letters, blogs, diaries, and graffiti. These forms of writing are undergoing extreme changes, which have to be considered as elements of creativity with the aim to encourage their development. Each of the elements may be improved for different reasons. However, the main reason for new techniques of writing is to enhance communication and move people from the common writing paradigm. There is a need to experience change that is meaningful to the desired change.
Letters, blogs, diaries and graffiti are used in different ways as they are supposed to cause different impacts whenever they are used. Their differences may be of a wide range. The first difference may be the purpose for each of them once it is used for communication. They have independent uses making each one of them unique. The second difference is the format used by each of the forms of writing. Although, there may exist a range of reasons why a given form of writing is used to communicate a given message, each of them becomes relevant and attractive when they embrace creativity. This means that the writers or users of the forms of writing are ready to move out of the normal formats and styles used in writing the defined form of writing.
Letters are the most common forms of official communication. It involves the use of paper, and pen to come up with a written message that is addressed to the receiver by the sender. The most common media of letter delivery is the post office. However, hand delivery has been used in various instances, and it is common where the distance between the sender and the receiver is small or the sender is aware of the exact location of the receiver at a given time. Moreover, there are different forms of letters that may be narrowed down to friendly or official letters. Official letters may involve letters of invitation, business letters, sales letters, and appreciation letters. Friendly letters are letters form close friends, and relatives (Biber & Leavy, 2006). Each of these letters is unique, and they have defined creativity in use of letters as media of communication.
One of the creativities that have been witnessed in use of letters is the existence of different formats in writing letters. It was discovered that letters should not only entail a message to a given receiver. They should be written in styles that represent absolute creativity, as well as making them attractive to the reader. Although, the message in the letter is the most significant element in the letter there should be concrete emphasis on the style that has been used in writing a letter. This has been the main cause of existence of different formats in writing letters. Whether formal or friendly, letters should follow a given format (Enelow & Kursmark, 2010). This is to define the seriousness of the sender on the letter that he or she addresses to the receiver.
The first element of creativity that is identifiable in writing letters is placing of addresses on the letter. Different people have come up with variant skills on how addresses should be aligned in a given form of the letter. People have been extremely keen on the side of the paper in which the address of the sender should be written. This has brought in the existence of addresses on either the right or the left of top of the letter. However, each of styles has been supported by users through their creative arguments.
Writing the address of the sender at the top right of the paper followed by the address of the receiver immediately below that of the sender and to the left has been the most common style of formal letters. However, people become extremely creative and have defined new techniques that may be extremely useful in making letter writing process simple. People are slowly rubbing off this style as it seemed repetitive and old-fashioned. One of the styles that people have developed to challenge a use of addresses on opposite sides of the heading of the letter is block style of writing. This has led to creative measure of ensuring that the two addresses required in the letter are written in a block with the sender’s address at the top and that of the receiver following immediately. The beginnings of all the sentences in such a letter are at the same margin. This is a method meant to portray neatness in writing as well as making any reader of the letter attracted to get the content as intended by the sender (Dell, 2013). For example, this style of writing has become extremely common in official letters with most letters being written to employers seeking employment.
The other style that has been identified as creativity in writing letters is the adoption of a single address at the top and concluding the letter with the some details of the sender. This style of letter writing is unique and meaningful in the extent of its adoption. The aim of this style is to ensure that there is no reputation that may be boring to the receiver and tiresome to the sender. In normal letter formats, the address of the sender is repeated severally, and this has been viewed as old fashion by different people. However, the new format has been used at different platforms and is extremely attractive to many people (Dell, 2013). For example, this creativity in letter writing has become mainly useful among friends as they address letters to their friends. In most cases, friendly letters are for people with clear knowledge of the identity of each other. Therefore, mentioning even one name of the sender would make the receiver easily recognize the sender.
The other element of creativity that has been identified in letter writing is a choice of colors and fonts in writing. It was formerly believed that official letters should be written in black ink on white paper. However, this has changed, and letters may be written in different colors as the sender would find it right. Different colors have different meanings and their use would define unique situations. Also, it is no more mandatory to use white paper as a writing material. Currently, people use all sorts of papers regardless of the color. For example, pink and red colors have been used to show love and compassion. Friendly letters have been connected to use of red colors in a form of ink or the paper on which the message is being written (Dell, 2013). For official letters, some of these colors may not be used. However, other colors such as blue may be used for official letters. While choosing colors for official letters, people should be critically keen so as not to use colors that may be disgusting to the receiver.
Letter is a form of communication, which is mainly between two people; the sender and the receiver. This means that language being used must be understandable by the two parties involved in the communication. For example, use of the term “lol” would be common among people of the same age or close friends. This is a term that is mainly used to indicate a funny statement from the sender and the receiver would reply using the term “lol”.
Blogs are the other forms of writing that have experienced extensive change through exclusive use of creativity by bloggers. Bloggers are people who identify a certain issue and are willing to expound on the issue through exclusive analysis. They are known as the most experienced and creative individuals in the internet. They engage in reviews of certain elements that are critical in the lives of the people being affected by the alleged element or issue. Following the sensitive tasks that bloggers engage in, creativity in developing them should be a priority.
One of the creative measures that bloggers have undertaken is use of extensive graphic designs. In the past, blogs were defined by the use of writings but the situation has changed and there is need to focus on attracting more viewers. This has been the cause for use of graphic designers who come up with images that are in line with the message that they wishes to deliver to their customers who will always visit the blogs to read the articles that have been uploaded. An image gives a wider view of an issue than a written message only. Therefore, a combination of the two would be guarantee for higher traffic on the blog as individuals seek to read the articles. This is referred to as the picture superiority effect (Armendariz, 2013).
The other form of creativity that may be evident in making blogs is mind mapping. This is a creative planning technique that makes it easy for the blogger to remember everything that he or she intends to put into a blog. A mind map may be defined as a diagram that connects information around a given object. Through mind mapping, it is extremely easy to remember everything that one intends to use in the blog. It assists in ensuring all the elements required are available, and specifications of their use are well defined. Therefore, mind mapping would help in being more creative, remember more, as well as solve problems that may have been brought up by use of a just note-taking technique (Miller, 2014). For example, mind mapping would be of exclusive significance in an instance where the blogger wants to write on different messages or topics on the same blog. It is extremely easy to forget on some of the topics or issues to be discussed if there is no proper alignment of the activities or elements that the blogger wishes to address.
Also, blogs would embrace the element of encompassing different tools that would be useful in making the information on the article easier to understand. The blog page should have links to elements such as dictionary, letter stamping, magazine collage, chitchat stickers, and remnant rub transfer sheets. Each of these elements is useful in its own way. The dictionary would be significant in a blog to assist the reader seek the meaning of a given word immediately he or she comes across an unfamiliar word. Other elements found as links to the blog would be used to make it socially meaningful such as the use of chitchat stickers, which would be used to save important message concerning the blog from the reader (Dell, 2013). For example, a blog discussing sensitive issues such as health should have an appropriate dictionary for health matters. This would be useful to readers who may not be medical practitioners or who may not have adequate knowledge or information on medicine.
Blogs are mainly made of writings, which may be creatively written to attract more readers. Different fonts and styles of writing mainly found in computers are being used. For example, calligraphic writings that would have formerly been known as informal forms of writing have become common among bloggers. They are created in such a way that anyone who comes across them would be interested on the details.
The other form of writing that deserves extensive creativity and should be inclined to broad mind while writing is a diary. This refers to a form of writing where one updates his or her daily activities. The activities are usually organized depending on the time within which a given activity should be completed. As time passes, diaries may involve extensive changes and innovations must be incorporated to make them sensible.
The first creativity that may be employed in use of diaries is prior organization of activities. Depending on the activities of an individual, a diary may be pre-updated. This is an outline of the activities that an individual would undertake within a given period. The activities should be aligned in a manner that they cannot conflict. Specific date must be used as pilot plan for the outline of all the activities as one would wish them to be aligned for a given period. For example, an individual may try out how well his activities would flow in a year through setting up weekly activities through the diary (Sova, 2006). This would be significant in testing whether the activities put in a given diary would be followed for a year plan of activities.
For a long time, diaries were believed to be in form of books, which had to be updated from time to time. As time passed, manual diaries are becoming irrelevant and inefficient forcing the need for better diaries. This has led to the introduction of electronic diaries. Different electrical devices have been developed in such a way that they support diary applications. Technology is the most recent form of creativity in writing diaries. It allows updates for diaries at different areas (Creative Diary Master, 2012). For example, all people who have been used to manual diaries, which are only a set of papers. Modern or electronic diaries have critical updates, which are defined by availability of reminders.
Also, diaries rely extensively on language. However, it is worth noting that language is changing from time to time. Different terms have been brought up with a lot of short forms being developed. For example, if one intends to indicate urgency in delivery of a given object or service he or she may choose to use “ASAP”, which means as soon as possible. Such terms would make it easy to update diaries. Another example would be “nkt”, which is an indication for a disgusting experience. This would help the user of a diary to mark the most disgusting moments expected in future.
Also, creativity in diaries has been influenced through use of graphic designs. Updating such diaries is influenced by presence of modern art, in form of images. These images or graphic designs act as representatives of the various activities that the user is likely to engage into in a given period. Different seasons or times may be represented by different images, which act as definitions of certain annual periods. These forms of diaries are extremely useful for events that are seasonal. For example, during valentine festive, these diaries may show images of red flowers or a graphic cartoon with two objects in love. This would be significant in reminding people about the day (Creative Diary Master, 2012). Also, for farmers such a diary would be significant since it would assist its users in identifying the expected weather in a given day and they would be prepared for probable occurrences of the day.
Writing creativity is an extremely influential art in the world of communication. It defines the changes that would be extremely fundamental in making communication outstanding. Different forms of writing experience different changes and there is need to focus on the creative changes that are likely to revolutionize the use of the particular form of writing. It appears that modern technology is the main force behind the creativity that is being witnessed in various forms of writing. Also, there are changes that have taken place depending on the demands of a given field. Some forms of writing have remained the same for long time in a way that they cannot match current activities. Proper organization and attractiveness of the forms of writing remain the main drivers to creativity.
