Problem employee is the headache for any organization. The problem employees develop the inefficiency in the organizational work and hence, are the detrimental part for the progress and an image of the organization. Problem employees lie in the police organization as well, however, in fact; they are found in police administration more as compared to other places (Collins, 2004).
Problem employee can be categorized to the four types which are concerned to the police administration. The types are as follows:
Malcontented
These employees are depressed and unhappy people and make others feel the same. They create minor issues related to the supervisors, co-workers, and the civilians. Moreover, they do not help in solving them either. These problem employees are required to be counseled appropriately by assuring them about the protection of their job (Hauser, 2012).
Moral Misconduct
Problem employees may get involved in moral misconduct as they categorized the civilians themselves under the deserving and not deserving people for any punishment. If the problem employee considers one to deserve, then that employee would cross the morality and indulged in physical and verbal abuse (Hauser, 2012).
Unprofessional attitude
Problem employee possessing the unprofessionalism is a major part of the police administration. They are in the habit to conduct the inappropriate way of working. For instance, violation of civil rules, misconduct of regulations regarding the criminals and ill behavior including sexual harassment with the subordinates (Hauser, 2012).
Criminal practices
Problem employee is found in practices which lead them to corruption. The employee takes advantage of their forces and power. Hence, they provide access to the wrong people in society and arrest the innocent ones. Moreover, they permit some civilians for the illegal activities in replacement of money (Gottschalk & Glomseth,2011).
In the administration, I faced a problem employee who was the supervisor. The supervisor sexually harassed the subordinates and threatened them. This led to a poor working environment. To work out this problem an application was filed against the supervisor to the higher authorities and the problem employee was punished for his conduct.
