Taking a closer look at the current student and researcher community, it has been noted that a large proportion of these people have resorted to online content for their inferences. There has been an influx of information finding its way to the internet without the consideration of the end-user. According to my interpretation, I prefer a faster way of information retrieval so that users can be able to obtain the relevant information within the shortest time possible.
I have learnt the importance of providing useful information using the smallest number of words possible. This is the only way to evade the negative perception that is fetched by large amounts of irrelevant words written just for the case of filling the pages. The summary of the four information searching categories as forwarded by Edwards and Bruce has brought a new comprehension of the same. I have deduced that one ought to consider these factors every time they upload important information. I have also seen the importance of understanding the information target. It is good to provide information to a certain target that fits the group’s needs and also make sure that the database is user friendly.
Information architecture is a very important factor. This is what determines the information capability to reach the desired target. Information architecture is a big determinant to making the information findable. It is also a good move to provide researchers with alternative information since this provides them with the chance to make comparisons hence come up with the best conclusion.
RDA is the best recording format since it does not have the misrepresentation and plagiary mistakes. Since word uniformity is crucial, RDA maintains to be the best option in professional work. It is also maintains records credibility and also facilitates easy manipulation the records.
The two classification schemes i.e. Dewey Decimal classification (DDC) and Library Congress Classification (LCC) use letters and numbers. A larger percentage of children has been acquainted with the system and have minimal problems making the choice of the books they want to read. It is therefore important to give children lessons on the decimal system as this will enable them make better of it. Pictures also play a major role in the children’s choices. Therefore, consideration should be given to pictures that are printed on the book covers. Briefing people on the meanings of the labels present on the books is also helpful since this is a language well understood majorly by librarians. This will make the location of the desired materials easy. The method of classification that the librarians use should cater for young children too for it to be considered effective. This means that it should be easy to understand and apply.
Considering the pace at which e books are evolving, it has been observed that libraries ought to be on toes so as to keep up. There has been a witnessed transformation from the typical library books to e-books hence posing a steep competition with the libraries striving to maintain their relevance. A chance for the library users to retrieve more information about the books they are using is a step that should be embraced. Simultaneously, library users should be given a chance to write their reviews about the books and also star them.
