Ethical Dilemmas
I, being the judge, would not accept any unfair means in the case and would sentence the co-defendant the way he deserves it. If I were to sentence both the individuals, I would prefer to send both of them to prison for at least five years for the crime of burglary committed by the two individuals. I think it would be wrong if both of them are not treated equally in the law. This is so because a person, especially someone who is in charge of the courtroom, should do his duty properly, with complete honesty and also without any biasness. Moreover, the most important thing in law is to be equal to everyone, no matter how rich or poor a person is. Further, I think all the citizens of a country should follow the rules and regulations set by the law of their respective countries. However, if immoral laws are imposed, they should in no way be accepted. In fact, people should file petitions against this kind of a law. Finally, another thing that should be kept in mind is that a person should be treated as an end and not as a means of acquiring wealth and other related needs. Thus, the position of a judge involves of all the things stated above and in order to be a responsible citizen, we must follow these morals. This would, in turn, not only benefit us as individuals but would contribute to the welfare of the country as a whole. Therefore, taking responsibility honestly and with sincerity is the best one can do to maintain law and order and abide by the laws of the country he or she lives in and is a grateful citizen of.
