As regards our textbook, Twitter as a social media has become a powerful source of information both as a source and a their platform for sharing. Together with its equivalent social media, Facebook, Twitter has made people self reporters and publishers of the information they hold and could never have published. Being a business student, however, my main interest is in how this prominent social media have effects on the economic market. In a bid to understand this, I came across JetBlue as one of the companies that has appreciated and is already using Twitter towards achieving its goals and objectives, considering efficiency and effectiveness.

JetBlue used many “FREE” ways to build their branding strategy which is on the internet. With the move towards globalization, companies have resorted to using the internet as the main tool towards establishing customer relationship. It's also an important channel through which the company brand is publicized for easier identification by the customers and in ensuring regular, faster and easier communication. JetBlue is also an example of a company that has been successful in using Twitter to satisfy their customers and expand market shares. In establishing that Twitter is a really powerful tool in communicating to and getting feedback from customers, Twitter trend as from May 2007 to August 2009 rose from zero to more followers than those of the White House. JetBlue appreciates Twitter as a really powerful tool which can give them more customers and respond to their customers’ requests faster. This explains why the company pays much attention on Twitter and this is shown by the much attention the company gives the social media by combining three departments together to ensure that this tool is utilized rightfully. The company uses Twitter as a sales and promotion tool in a bid to reach a large population simultaneously and also in availing the company’s profile to customers who may need to know more about it.
