Individuals acquire and develop language from interaction with their environment. One significant element in this environment is the society that an individual lives, or is born in. The individual learns language patterns, usage of new words, and other language aspects from interacting with their community.
I communicate my thoughts through singing, speaking, drawing, writing poems and through gestures. With the use of these tools, I am able to share with those around me what I am thinking and the concepts I develop. I learnt to use these tools from interaction with mainly my peers, family and other members of the society. It was in a peer group that I got to appreciate the use of poetry to communicate my thoughts while I learnt drawing from my uncle.
The written symbols that I use to communicate include alphabetical letters which are an integral part of my communicating through poems. I also use shapes to communicate and this mainly while drawing.
PERSUASIVE ESSAY
A gay marriage is a situation where both people in a marriage union are of the same gender. In most countries these marriages are not recognized by law. In the U.S.A such marriages are not considered legal by the federal government though 3 states in the Union have legalized them. Gay marriages are not only opposed by the existing laws but also by culture which views marriage as a union of two people of different genders. Today homosexuality is considered as a social evil that many a culture is trying to bring down. Gay marriages should not be legalized as these would give the gay couples backing for their marriages and also an opportunity to fight to preserve their kind.
Legalization of gay marriages should not be done as such a law would expose society to the risk of homosexuality getting rooted in our culture since gay couples would use this opportunity to ensure continuity of their kind. Hadley says, “Those who wish to preserve say, a Jewish people, know that Jews need to reproduce and raise their children as Jews. But that would be the comparable path of obligation for the person who is committed to the preservation of a ‘gay community’ ”? (595). Hadley’s argument is that the same way a Jewish person would aim to raise and reproduce Jewish children for self preservation is also the same a gay person or couple would aim to raise their children as homosexuals.
Gay marriages should not be legalized as these would give the gay couples backing for their marriages and also an opportunity to fight to preserve their kind. A marriage is supposed to bring two people together to start a family. The main role of this family is to make and reproduce a person biologically and in their social life. A person’s social values are founded on the principles their family stands for and so since a gay family stands for homosexuality this is what it would reproduce in its members. Biologically the question is just how gay couples plan to reproduce and propagate society considering reproduction needs two people of opposite sexes?
