Ethics in Sports
Ethics refers to set principles implied or expressed highlighting right conduct. It has a close relationship to the person’s feelings, the religious trust, the laws governing the land and the overall behavior of the society where one operates from. Beliefs are the intellectual judgment that is normally based on the mind of an individual in relation to a given thought in life. It brings out a case of personal mental capability and intentions that are normally based on certain norms and taboos which are always contested on a daily basis. Faith has been one of the beliefs that brought about a number of arguments about the right faith to be observed by the entire mankind.
Deontology is a way of explain ethics based on principles that put into consideration the policies observed in a given environment in relation to activities carried out, while Teleology highlights the various explanations that are put across in trying to analyze and find out what nature is made up of through the daily functioning of humans. It puts across all the researches that have led to discoveries in technology that has brought about globalization. Finally, Existentialism refers to the existence of human beings since time immemorial and their mode of survival that has enabled them to suit fully into their surroundings. It highlights the entire ways through which humans have evolved over the past period and their adaptability to their personality.
Sporting is one of the major entertainment sources to mankind and has been in existence for many years. It has been used in uniting all generations together as they share glory, respect and unity. Its ethics opens up a forum for growth of decent deeds in both the lives of the sportsmen and women and fans at large. All this depends much on the feedback that comes after either a defeat or a win in a given sport. Ethics puts in place more consideration on the aspect by setting up guidelines that eventually yield the set goals.
The contemporary issues in sports are clearly highlighted through ensuring proper nurturing of players at early age (early coaching) and identification of talent. Furthermore, sports is important in setting and understanding the limits of the need for results and setting of professional requirements as key factors that may bring reality in managing of sports. Coaches form a panel of leadership that foresees over the process of ensuring ethics is observed to the letter. They encourage the players to cooperate fully, set commitments to their disciplines, ensure integrity, avoid using abusive and vulgar language, and unite freely as other humans.
There is a call for respect by all coaches and players to value the rights, dignity and worthiness of a person. Each has to be treated accordingly, based on his/her abilities and activity regardless of his or her origin, political affiliation, gender, background or religion. The well being of a player should be given a priority in order to ensure that all his or her safety and future plans are fully nurtured through a mindset management that treats all players equally and works on developing their intellectual, social and physical capabilities. The coaches are also called upon to develop a certain mode of independency among the players as through it, they are able to partake on other responsibilities in life like academics and domestic chores.
Performance is a major priority in sports and the coaches are called upon to properly set and monitor each player to ensure that the required standards are attained through training. This is made possible by ensuring a close relationship with the players especially the young who require much attention. The sports fraternity also ensures that there are favorable policies concerning the sporting sector at all levels. The process of training together brings out confidence as well as mutual trust and respect that eventually yields performance as the coach is able to transfer his knowledge fully without fear or interference from outside. Commitment is a major value in sports that yields results as coaches are called upon to ensure that all the players are fully committed to their disciplines and are willing to perform. This is normally achieved by signing of contracts that gives them the obligation to maximize on his/her talent. It is normally boosted by cooperation among others parties and the coaching staff.
Existentialism is my preferred belief to be applied in sports since it bases on survival principle of human beings from long time ago. When one looks at a particular sports event as a way to prove survival and creativity, it adds an extra thrill to the whole game. It highlights endurance of the highest order and thus emphasizes on top quality and full engagement of our natural senses to win.
