Is Johnny Cheating?
Is Johnny Cheating?
Question 1: In your own words, describe the problem. What do you think Johnny is doing? (This is your hypothesis.)
Question 2: What actions could you take to either prove, or disprove, your hypothesis?
You could take a number of actions to prove or disprove the hypothesis that Johnny is cheating on Johnna. For instance, she could hire someone to follow him, she could follow him, she could confront him, she could put a listening device in his coat pocket, she could check his phone, she could offer to go shopping with him, or she could show up at his workplace, among other scenarios. Question 3: Describe at least 2 ways to either prove or disprove the hypothesis.
Another way to prove or disprove the hypothesis is to check his phone. By looking at the contacts list or the received or sent calls, she could get an idea of whom he is calling. He might also keep a schedule on his phone, or text messages or photos. His phone might connect to other accounts, such as Facebook or Twitter, which are more revealing than any individual would like to admit. She could see pictures, private messages, applications and any secret information, which could prove or disprove the hypothesis.Question 4: What type of information would you need, and how would you collect information?
Johnna would need to know where he works, what his hours are and what the passcode for his phone is. She could casually try to figure the information for herself by asking him, or she could call his place of employment. Also, it would be helpful to have an idea of frequent contacts and important names, so that she could differentiate between the recent changes. Question 5: In your opinion, what kinds of issues do you think Johnna may face when interpreting the information?
Johnna might face issues of misleading images, especially if she looks through his phone. Some images might be misleading, especially if she sees them out of context. Even if she follows Johnny or has him followed by someone else, the information is still subjective. Whoever gets the information can adjust it based on their interpretations or mood of the moment. She will have to be careful to not misinterpret the information that she or someone else discovers.
