Introduction:
Critical thinking is the intense clarification of goals, examinations of assumptions, the discerning of one’s hidden values evaluation of evidence, the accomplishing of one’s actions as well as the assessment of one’s conclusions. The term critical as used in to express critical thinking signifies the importance or centrality or the meditation and reasoning towards an issue a problem of concern or a question. In this context the term critical does not in any way mean to disapprove. There is more positive and useful meaning of critical thinking. For instance when formulating a workable solution towards a personal problem and teaming up as a group about what decision to arrive at or even to analyze the assumptions as well as the quality in the methods used when scientifically reaching a reasonable level of one’s confidence concerning certain hypothesis. When using critical thinking strongly, we might be evaluating an argument. Critical thinking may occur when one is judging, deciding or solving a problem.
Generally, whenever someone figures out on what to believe or what not to believe, he does so in a reflective and reasonable way. Speaking, writing, reading and listening may be all done either critically or uncritically. Critical thinking is crucial to becoming a substantive writer and a closer reader. Critical thinking is one way of taking away one’s problems in life. Through critical thinking, one is capable of determining patterns, making connections and gaining experience of solving new programs. When someone improves his critical thinking skills, he also improves his fluid intelligence which also increases the skills of problem solving and also the deep thinking elements. All those skills are related to a part of the brain whereby the more they are used, the easier it is to put skills to the ultimate test. Some of the critical thinking skills are, analyzing, inference, evaluation, meta-cognition, observation and interpretation.
Sometimes thing do turn complex and even the application of critical thinking becomes also complex. Many are times when one is caught between difficult moments to an extent that even making an informed decision becomes a mirage. In our daily lives, people are engaged into various activities and due to the fact that no one know what awaits him in whatever they do, they find themselves trapped in different types of snares in which to others, getting out of them requires a lot of interventions from others. The capacity of one getting out of a difficult situation depends largely on the amounts of confidence and panic. Everyone faces problems and in fact, no one can escape a problem but you can only avoid. Personally, I have faced very challenging moments in my entire living in this world. One interesting thing is that, the more I encounter challenges, the stronger my instincts become. This is not to say that I am unafraid of situations, but cautious and vigilant.
As a personal experience, very recently I was caught up in a very challenging situation which involved money. I used to work in dairy firm as a milk processing supervisor. I was entrusted with one hundred and eighty six laborers under my supervision. I was very industrious honest, time conscious, meek and selfless as well and my boss liked me a lot. My boss understood me well and he conceded the fact that despite me being polite, I was very principled and strict in my duties as well. To my fellow workers under my supervision, they mistook my meekness for weakness and this jeopardized my career as a supervisor since three quarters of my workers were females and in fact, very beautiful. Given the fact that I was the most handsome supervisor in the whole world as they insinuated, every lady wanted to be my girlfriend. Due to the fact that I am only but a human being, and despite my tough principles, I fell into the snare of one beautiful lady. Without even knowing what I was getting myself into, I began getting so close to her and our relationship started affecting my duties.
Apart from me being their supervisor, I was also obligated to paying their salaries. I was ignorant of not being brave enough to identify her original intentions only to realize later that she was after swindling me of the worker’s salaries. I can recall her telling me that her mother was scheduled for a heart surgery the following week and that, the total amount needed was twenty thousand dollars. She requested me to give her ten thousand dollars from the worker’s salary since in their possession, they had ten thousand dollars. After convincing me that her uncle who worked as a managing director in a Germany based firm had sent the remaining amount but it was being cleared and could be late for the depositing, I sympathized with her and gave her the money in conditions that the said money from Germany was to be refunded back to me a day before worker’s pay day after all, she was my girlfriend and I loved her. In any business, honest communication between parties is imperative but not money wordpress.com (2010) I was fooled with love and therefore did not remember that. (Cubically challenged, 2010)
After giving her the money, I have never set my two eyes on her again. A day before pay day, I was shivering with a lot of panic since I did not have part of the money to pay people. I sat down and tried to recollect myself so as to come out with the most amicable solution. I remembered what my grandfather told me before dying that there was no problem which had no way out and that I could use the problem to suspend another problem until one reaches a perfect solution to solve the existing problem permanently. I woke up the following day which was the d-day and walked straight to the bank to ask for an emergency funding on behalf of the company since I was one of the authorized signatories. The bank gave me money and I went straight to pay workers. The following day, I applied for one week leave of which I could go upcountry and sell one of my parcels of land before things deteriorated I had forgotten the dangers of mixing friendship with business (investmentcorp.org, 2010) Before the company knew what was wrong, I had paid every single cent and I avoided going to prison due to my critical thinking.
Making an informed decision requires a lot of wisdom. According to fcps.net, a good thinker must be sufficient self critical, must be ready to welcome any problematic situation and he must also be tolerant of ambiguity, he must be deliberative and reflective, he must also believe in the values of rationality, he must concede that thinking is effective, he has to be deliberative in goal discovery, a good thinker must revise his goals when necessary, he must be open to multiple possibilities and lastly, he must use the evidences which strongly challenges the possibilities that are favored (fcps.net, 2010)
Conclusion:
Everybody can think. The only difference is that the degree of our thinking differs. No one was created a fool and everyone can get himself out of any situation as long as he does not panic wherever situations occur. Whenever someone is in a situation which requires an extra thinking effort, all he needs is to stay calm and acknowledge the fact that he is not the only one facing such problem. The truth of the matter is that, all problems are potentially equal. If problems were to be exchanged, problems which appear to be serious could also appear to be very minor to others and vice versa.
