The Unionists are considered victorious during the American Civil War and there are several factors which enabled them to win the war in 1865. One of these factors is the Unionists’ campaigns in the Eastern and Western Theaters of the war. In the Eastern Theater, Unionists’ campaigns were launched in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. At first, the Unionists struggle due to the leadership of General Lee of the Confederate Army. However, they controlled major food supply in their campaigns in the West Virginia. In the Western Theater, the Unionists campaigns were launched in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Florida and Georgia (Rivera, N.d.). The military campaigns of the Unionists provide struggles and problems for the Confederate army since they are forced to defend the large land with low amount of resources.
The Union Navy also took part in the victory of the Unionists. The naval power of the Unionists is considered stronger and larger than the Confederate Army. The Union Navy easily blocked the ports and has the capacity to attack the Confederate Navy. In this case, the Confederate Navy was easily dispersed which caused difficulties for the Confederate Army to defend posts and acquire resources. In addition, the Unionists are more powerful in terms of command system and war strategy due to the Union diplomacy (Rivera, N.d.). Lastly, the black soldiers also add to the strength of the Union Army. The blacks also participated in the Confederate Army but they are still considered slaves. The black soldiers played an important role during the campaigns of the Eastern and Western theaters of the war. In general, the Unionists have numerous advantages such as more powerful navy, help from the black soldiers and the Union Diplomacy. These advantages results to their victory during the American Civil War.
