I define the culture of an organization where I would like to spend a great deal of my time as a place where cross-cultural differences are appreciated. The difference among the members are not considered as hindrances in the attainment of organizational goals, rather, they are considered as assets that can be utilized for the advancement of a better cause. For instance, the organization encourages the members to express themselves, because different views and opinions are respected. I recognize how cultural differences can have an impact on the ability of people to collaborate towards solving problems, but this should not hinder people from different culture to have a meaningful professional and personal relationship with an organization. My organization works towards achieving full cultural competency, and it has a system where it finds ways by which to close cultural gaps in order for the members to be able to work efficiently and productively with each other.
In addition to that, the leadership of a culturally competent organization can have an impact on how members from different cultural backgrounds interact with each other within a group. I think that a leader in a culturally diversified group must be able to show that he fully accepts and respect differences. In line with this, a culturally competent leader demonstrates a deep understanding of the dynamics of culture. For example, he should have a wide knowledge about other cultures, and should endeavor to integrate this knowledge within the group. A leader that respects and recognizes the value of other culture can help the members create a more meaningful interaction with each other.
