It is with sincere enthusiasm that I wish to recommend Jean for admission into the PhD program in Marketing major specifically in Consumer Behavior track in your esteemed university.
I have known Jean for four years and can attest to her brand of expertise both as a student and as a professional. I got to know her personally in 2010 when she became my student in Culture and Art Research Methodology. I remembered her as one of my best students in class as she deservingly received high marks in my subject. I also had a chance to work with her dursing the same year when he audited my Marketing class. She did this while she was in the process of completing her graduate thesis. With her dedication to her craft and willingness to innovate and learn, Jean would be a perfect fit to your program. Jean has many significant experiences to support her background in Fine Arts. As an International student, Jean has studied in different Universities and has significant work experiences that makes him/her a great candidate for the PhD program. After earning a BFA in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master of Science in Culture and Art Management at Hongik University Graduate School in Seoul, South Korea, she is able to utilize her educational background in terms of research and work.
In line with her educational background, her Master program helped her to study ways to integrate business administration into arts and culture. Jean has also written two academic research papers and has submitted it to SSCI Journals. Jean’s first research was called “Corporate Arts Support through Foundations” the aim of the research is to investigate the impact of the characteristics of board of directors of corporations on the choices of support methods and support areas for society. In 2012, with her second research, Jean and I began collaborating with the paper entitled “Nostalgia Fulfilling Agentic and Communal Needs: How Different Types of Self-Concepts Shape Consumer Attitudes toward Nostalgia.” The purpose of the research is to study how the different types of self-concepts of consumers affect their attitudes towards nostalgia. At the end, the research established that agentic individuals are more favorable towards a nostalgic target due to their enhanced self-positivity. In relation to this, communal consumers become more favorable toward the nostalgic target as a result of the enhancement of social-connectedness. In addition to this; she has written two research manuscripts in English and were assessed by the SSCI journals.
Adding to her competencies, Jean also worked as a part-time professor as a stage production department at Korea College of Media Arts for 6 years. During her time as a part time teacher, Jean passed on her knowledge to other college students. Jean then travelled to New York where she interned in the visitor services department at the Museum of Modern Art. Finally, Jean worked as an administrative assistant for Hongik University press for 2 years in Seoul, Korea. Jean’s different work experiences acquired in both Korea and the United States that has given her a great perspective on her future.
Outside of her promising career as a professional, Jean finds great pleasure in volunteering. She has been affiliated with a center for children with disabilities and through the use of her background in the arts she is able to connect more effectively with people. She wishes to relate art with marketing and see how her ideologies would bring forth positive changes in the marketing field. She wants to use marketing strategies to connect with people with disabilities or even people without interest in arts.
With a strong background and professional experience in Arts, a PhD in marketing will help Jean to balance her education and acquire further knowledge in achieving her objectives. Jean is an outstanding person in general and it has been truly remarkable working with her. She is hardworking, dedicated and constantly helping in every way she can. She is well-adept with both qualitative and quantitative research which makes her an excellent researcher. She is also fitting to conduct interdisciplinary research due to her vast experiences in different field including arts. As a person, I would define her as some who embodies positivity and dedication. She has a strong will that serves as her fuel towards her aspiration. She has a strong sense of responsibility and camaraderie.
I believe that she has prepared herself well for this moment wherein she will take her education to the next level. A PhD program from this highly rated University and program is the right choice for Jean. I am very confident in her skills that she honed over the years. She will be of good addition to the university’s program because of her genuine desire of positively influencing society and remaining intellectually challenged.
