Part 1
I have selected France as my vacation destination. France is located in Europe and is one of the top destinations for travelers from the United States of America and other parts of the world. The capital city of France, Paris, is the most attractive destination in the country. Many people visit to absorb the vast array of spectacular scenery, with the Eiffel Tower being among the most iconic attractions. I have selected France since it is a tourism hub fit for vacation and is a warm and welcoming country that any traveler would find pleasing to experience.
There are specific costs associated with traveling to France. The country uses a different currency compared to the U.S. The currency used in France is the euro since the nation is part of the European Union. Some of the substantial costs associated with traveling to France include air travel, accommodation, food and drinks, and attractions. According to Choi, the price for a return ticket to France for one individual is $650. Accommodation is another critical part of a vacation that a person must consider. France hosts a wide range of accommodation choices with different prices depending on a person’s budget and taste. The average cost for accommodation for one night is $150 (Choi). Movement from one point to another is also fundamental when on vacation. Choi explains that $200 can be enough to cater for transportation costs during a two-week stay.
The essence of traveling is to enjoy new scenery and explore different aspects of the host nation. There are many sites that a person can visit while in France, which range from museums, the Eiffel Tower and Mont Saint Michel, which is a notable medieval attraction site. The Eiffel tower stands as a beacon of attraction with significant cultural implications for the French people (Steiner and Veel 1). Its architectural design is unique and attractive, making it the most famous site in France. Choi explains that a budget of $300 is enough to cater for all the charges that can be incurred while exploring such sites during a two-week vacation. Therefore, my travel companions and I will be keen to explore the available scenery based on our budget.
Furthermore, language is one of the factors consider when travelling. A language barrier can be a significant impediment that can negatively impact the entire travel experience. Language is critical when seeking services, asking for direction, or engaging in a casual conversation with other travelers. The most popular language in France is French. My travel companions and I are not fluent in French. However, we can rely on technology to help us with translation when engaging with the locals.
Part 2
France is rich in terms of culture. Religion is a fundamental aspect of any culture since it captures the beliefs of the people and the values they represent. France is home to many religions. However, Catholicism is the most dominant religion in France, with statistics indicating that 64% of the entire French population practices the religion (Zimmerman). Nonetheless, Islam is also a popular religion in France. Other notable religions in the country include Judaism and Buddhism.
It is challenging to locate any statistical data identifying the demographic population of France in terms of race. The law prohibits the distinction of French citizens based on race (“France Population 2021 (Demographics, Maps, Graphs)”). Nonetheless, the most recent data drawn from 2004 indicates that France is dominated by the white population, representing slightly above 80% of the total population (“France Population 2021 (Demographics, Maps, Graphs)”). The nation is also home to blacks and Asians.
Different values and customs make France a unique place to visit. Among the notable defining aspects of the nation is the love for sports. Soccer is the most famous sport in the country. France has excelled in the sport and has managed to produce some of the best soccer talents worldwide. The love for soccer is evident in the nation’s prosperity at the game. The French national soccer team are the current world champions. It is a fete the country has repeated following its first triumph at the global stage in 1998.
Also, love and romance are critical values that reflect the French culture. According to Zimmermann, the French people practice an open attitude towards love and romance, as evident in the culture which accepts married people to have sex with other partners. The culture reflects throughout the nation’s political leadership, which is dominated by extramarital affairs. French culture for love and romance is prevalent that most people associate the city of Paris with love. The Eiffel tower stands out as one of the symbols of love where most people revive their passionate experiences.
The French loving and romantic culture demonstrates that the nation is collectivistic. There is an overall sense of acceptance and regard for other people’s interests in France, unlike most countries. The collectivistic nature of the nation will be fundamental towards making our trip memorable. The culture implies that the people are often ready to assist others. As visitors in the country for the first time, we will rely on all the assistance we can get when seeking directions or learning new aspects of the French culture.
Overall, two-week vacation to France is bound to ignite a lot of excitement. The country hosts many scenes that my travel companions and I will enjoy during the entire period. The nation’s culture will equally afford us a memorable experience. I believe that France is the ideal destination for my colleagues and me. We are confident that our time in the country will lead to many positive memories.
