The current thread that has come about with current technology is the cyber terrorism. There are cases of reports that show how this phenomenon has grown so rapidly with the internet users. Many people have now found the internet as the best avenue where terror can be spread. Terrorism affects everybody whether using the internet or not (Janczewski & Colarik, 73). The reports show that the users of the internet give the terrorists the avenue to plant their planned evil to the country, hence increasing the effects on the victims such as fear and insecurity.
The first reason that the terrorists attack people through the cyber in by spreading of propaganda, there is a lot of spreading of propaganda through the internet. This is spread through multimedia, which gives the ideology; give commands, justifications, and enhancing the threatening activities. This is done through written texts, listening, videos, pictures, and even the games that have been developed by the terrorists. Even though the federal government protects the rights of people, such as freedom of expression, this does not guarantee the terrorists the opportunity to take advantage of others; everyone should go to a given limits (Ching, 95). This type of cyber crime threatens the security of the nation. Through propaganda on the internet, there is a lot of violence in the country, this is advanced by the social media sites and many people are able to view and join. In addition, through the internet propaganda may be in the form of video recording of violent actions. This encourages the users and viewers to join in the deal and be virtual terrorists.
The second way in which the terrorists use the internet to accomplish their mission is through hacking the accounts and manipulating it for own reasons. This is done by giving instructions and transportation of the equipments and material by the terrorists and their members all over the globe. For instance, there was instances that was reported whereby the women who had the name Jihadjane who was posting the information on You Tube that was used to transfer and monitor the actions overseas through the Jihad websites. Study indicates that the cyber terrorists still fund their members through the internet, the hacker the accounts and fake the names, using the underground rooms for digital chatting and communication. This way they monitor and transfer money, drug trafficking as well as smuggling of weapons and arms.Negative impacts
For the spreading of propaganda, they put the nation and individuals to a state of insecurity where most of the people are involved to sabotage the nation. Through the propaganda, many people get themselves involved in the terror activities. This is so disruptive that it causes a lot of fear; loss of integrity, loss of confidence, there is also as sense of physical destruction. This is through the internet harming by giving commands, which lead to deliberate malfunctions to the users.
