Nice, calm, relaxing music. All you want to do is just let it take you away to a magical world. It starts out slow and even a bit mysterious, as if you are walking through a wood knowing that your place of destination is a beautiful valley The forest is not that scary but there are moments when not everything is perfect. It is natural to feel scared. But you do reach the valley and excitement overfills you. You dive into the beauty around you and find yourself at peace.
Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring, Part I
Some horns, perhaps in the distance. Perhaps they are bringing something mysterious with them. They sound quite unclear. We are definitely not in Kansas anymore. Some foreign land for sure, maybe even somewhere in the East. It looks like we are the ones who stand out here. Nothing is like what we are used to and even the smallest things give us the chills. But somewhere there is a clear sound. Perhaps it can help us. If we can only reach it. There is so much around us, stopping us from moving forward. We feel trapped. But all of a sudden we are in the clearing. It is not as we imagined it, but definitely better or not. We are once again surrounded and this time is looks dangerous rather than just uncomfortable. What to do? We try to fight. Just don’t give up. Just one more go. There! It’s done. We are free
Orff: O fortuna, from Carmina burana
Darkness, mysteriousness. Something is preparing. Something is growing. There is some uncertainty and always movement. There is no stop. Always something is pushing upon you. You think this is bad but after some time you realize that this really was just preparations. Things begin flying around you. It has begun. All that was brewing is now ready to come out. Whatever it is, good or bad, it has begun.
Ives: Country Band March
It looks like we are back to the sixties, but they are not as the used to be. No, this is just a mix. Everything is together, the sixties, the seventies. Moreover, we even get a glimpse at the old circus and maybe even some hunting. It all seems very nice at first but then you realize it is too much. Like when you come to a party for which so much has been done. You may be enjoying it at first, but sometimes too much is just too much. Here is a parade and a dance by the lake and all of it comes together.
Joplin: Maple Leaf Rag
Fun, fun, fun. You can have your memories round up in little pictures flapping in front of you. Just like in the old movies. This I’m sure is one of the songs that the old silent movies was played by. A memory to my past? Any video in front of me to this music is great to watch. Even the video when I first went to school. Imagining it, everything looks so fun and all you want to do is smile. What a great song. Every time I hear it, it brings happiness and just makes me smile.
Holiday:Billie's Blues
A kind of song to which you just can’t help but snap your fingers. But the song does have some words. How unfortunate it is when you get disappointed in someone. But even more often you don’t want to let yourself fall down. So just putting on a mask and singing to a song like this is a great way out.
Strayhorn: Take the A Train, by the Duke Ellington Orchestra
Blues or blues. Judging by the name, this music is made for feeling blue. But most of the songs from this style are just so much fun. Perhaps they aren’t made for letting you feel blue, but for making you smile and enjoy life. Yes, they are there to remind you just how great life can be and to push you forward – to make you conquer new heights with a smile on your face.
Williams: Raiders March, from Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones. What a movie. I used to watch them together with my family. Just a glimse at the past. And the song itself just screams “adventure” and “danger”. You can just see the hero conquering everything without even seeing the story. Just from this song you know that the good guy will pull through and protect us all.
