A scholarship presents nurses with the opportunity to observe, analyze, and synthesize practice knowledge as well as to test theories and procedures learned. A Scholarship leads to a new understanding of nursing phenomena. One of the roles of a DNP-prepared nurse is practice-enquiry, which is an exercise that seeks to identify practice challenges experienced by practicing nurses with the intention of deriving solutions (Pape & Robert 43). In practice-enquiry, the nurse has the role of evaluating practice evidence with the intention of identifying the challenges that exist (Pape & Robert 43). For instance, an investigating a health organization's mentorship program can help in the determination of whether the mentorship program has an effect on workers job satisfaction and the employee turnover. Depending on the findings, the relevant changes are implemented to improve the mentorship program. A DNP-prepared nurse is equipped with advanced practice and nursing administration skills, which are significant for the leadership role (Waxman 27). Through leadership, the DNP-prepared nurse can initiate programs, coordinate resource usage, as well as to motivate colleagues (Chism 294). In addition, leadership and collaboration promote mentorship among nurses and healthcare personnel as a result of working towards a common goal.
My DNP project gives an insight into the effect of mentorship initiatives on individuals, job satisfaction, as well as employee retention. This is significant in all health care institutions because an increase in employee turnover and reduced job satisfaction can be the result of an ineffective mentorship initiative. This phenomenon can be described accurately through an evaluation of the existing mentorship program. The evaluation will reveal the areas that need improvement and the adjustments that the system needs. Therefore, my project will assist in boosting employee morale and job satisfaction, and the reduction of employee turnover through the evaluation and adjustment of healthcare institutions’ mentorship initiatives.
