A collaborative workspace is a shared workspace in an environment that is interconnected, and all individuals in different locations can interact with each other (Garrett 14004). A collaborative workspace can be remote through internet connectivity, or it can be a case of the various individuals meeting the expenses of a joint working space.
Types of Co-Workspace
There are different types of collaborative working spaces that are dependent on the work that an individual wants to do in that space. A total office is usually a dignified office space commonly used by lawyers, accountants, and public relations agents (Tynjälä 134). A startup oriented working space is ideal for people with businesses which they conduct online .Co-working places are preferred since they have the necessary amenities and provide opportunities to meet like-minded people (Garrett et al. 14004).
The most suitable co work space
I would be most comfortable working in a co-working place since the office spaces have a reasonable amount of rent that I can afford. This working space will offer me an opportunity to work in a healthy environment where I can network with individuals who have common interests as I do. There is a high likelihood that a co-working place will enable me to mingle with coworkers with whom I can gain ideas from and who belong to my age bracket (Garrett et al. 14004). Moreover, the collaborative working area is likely to be opened for longer hours to enable me to access the office on request and work for an extended period of time in an environment where I can access varying services which include reliable internet connectivity.
Additionally, co-working place will be beneficial because it will help me reduce loneliness by meeting other people who have varying interests and are self-driven to be successful. A co-working space will be suitable since it will enable me to convert a traditional cubicle to a useful working space which will allow me to network personally and professionally thereby to give my business an opportunity to grow exponentially (Tynjälä 137). In the course of networking, I am likely to discover new clients who could bring increased revenues to my business. It is my aspiration that I can access the talent around me to recruit more customers.
Another advantage posed by a co-working space is that of an environment that is free of destruction that is common in a public space or a home office this ensuring optimal performance. By working in an atmosphere where I am surrounded by enthusiastic and highly motivated coworkers, my personal productivity is likely to increase (Gosling 517). Creativity has also been seen to bud in co-working spaces which I expect to tap from by getting new ideas and constructive criticism on my thoughts. The new individuals that I will work with will enable me to have a new perspective on projects that I have been working on for prolonged periods of time.
The Suitability of this Co-Workspace to My Big 5 Personality Traits
My big five personality traits are that I am an extrovert, critical, self-disciplined, open to new experiences and emotionally stable. The environment provided by the co-working space will be suitable for me since being an extrovert enables me to reach out to people and express my ideas freely. Furthermore, I have no problem being in an environment where people work as they talk (Tynjälä 140). Additionally, I consider myself to be a high critical individual who always examines issues analytically to decipher the thoughts and the possible benefits that could be drawn from an idea.
My character of being self-disciplined is part of the reason why I expect to be successful. I find it proper for me to acquire a co-working space where I get the opportunity to work with other like-minded individuals who probably share most of the traits that I have (Gosling 510). In this contact, I am a person who is open to new experiences, as such being part of a working space will provide me with the rare opportunity of meeting new people and clients by the networks that I will create. These new experiences will ensure that I am able to enlarge my perspectives and to modify my vision to set achievable goals. I am also an emotionally stable individual who always aspires to receive feedback; both positive and negative which is necessary for enabling me to make a decision.
The sense of community that is created through co-working will be useful in making me more creative as compared to my previous working environment which was primarily associated with the association. My expectation is that coworking will heighten the social aspects of my life. As Hill, Erickson and Holmes (353) improved interactions reduce work-life conflicts and increased flexibility in the working environment, creating a peaceble environment that enhances increased productivity. As such, an increase in interaction with my coworkers will ensure that I have a more relaxed mindset. By combining my traits to the positive environment with the working place, I expect to reap the benefits of my working place and to actually curtail the demotivating factors that are primarily associated with a home space or a public place (Garrett et al. 14004). Overall, the sense of community in a co-working place will give me a possibility of expansion which will enable me to increase my network, business, and clients. Ultimately, my expectation is that through my character trait of being open minded, I will be able to increase my creativity and productivity. Generally, it is my feeling that a shared working space is highly affordable and ensures that I am optimally productive while incurring minimal costs.
