Personal Statement
Since childhood, have always had an undying interest in understanding how the human body works. I recall how I used to play the role of a doctor during playing sessions with other kids just because I felt that was the career for me. I also recall seeing how a Physical Therapist and his team help my grandmother, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, get back to her normal life again; this was one of the most important factors which inspired me to consider becoming a Physical Therapist.
I would later pursue a course in physical therapy; professedly, the college education has proven overly instrumental in handling patients at the placements I got after graduating from the college program. I have earned repeated commendations from Physical Therapists and patients for providing high-quality, compassionate care to my patients. I also have excellent communication skills and can communicate effectively in English and Hindi. Additionally, I have ability to influence people (I realized I possess this trait while working as a volunteer at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital) coupled with a strong work ethics has allowed me to successfully overcome the challenges in my life. The bad grades I have earned were when I was unfocused, immature and irresponsible. But currently, to my colleagues, I am mature, responsible and dependable intern with a positive attitude.
All of these experiences have contributed to my desire to become a Physical Therapist. I am sure that my determination and work ethic combined with my interaction skills and a passion for helping others will make me a successful Physical Therapist. I look forward to this exciting career and I am confident that I possess the qualities necessary to assist patients with physical challenges.
