Windows Vista
Windows Vista is a computer Operating System from Microsoft Incorporated. There are different versions of Windows Vista. Microsoft offers Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise and Windows Vista Ultimate. Two of these versions are for home users, two for office users and one that has all features.
Planning Decisions Prior to Beginning a Windows (Vista) Install
It is important to first of all check that the programs already installed in the computer can work with the new Operating System. Decide which programs are necessary and move them to an external hard disk before starting the installation.
The second consideration is what programs and set up files will still be necessary. The ones that are still needed will have to be reinstalled using their original disc or their set up files. All the programs will have to be installed manually after installation of the new operating system.
Selecting the right version of Windows Vista is another very crucial decision. There are five versions of Windows Vista available: Home basic, home premium, business, enterprise and ultimate. The ultimate version is the one for those people who want to have all the features. The home version has more of entertainment features than the business or enterprise version. The version chosen should meet the needs of the user.
The next step is to check that all the programs in use currently can work with Windows Vista. If there are any that cannot, it is important to decide what steps to take before installing Windows Vista.
