Introduction
Life outside high school is very different from what most of us have been used live. We often find different situations that at times might be hard to handle. It is important high school graduates to be mentored and oriented before joining colleges or universities. In this report, we sort to seek analysis of what criteria should be used to train high school graduates on how to make informed decisions about after high life.
The main aim of this 21days training seminar is to sensitize this years high school graduates to be psychologically and socially prepared to handle campus life. Over the last few years, we have identified a number of students who clear high school and are not sure of what they want to study for their career. One of our aims is to help students choose the right career through our team of dedicated career guidance department. In addition, during this training we are going to help students develop their communication and social life since it plays a big role while on campus.
Problems or deficiencies
However, different people have different personalities that might influence the expectation of this training. They're students who possess introvert personalities and they might opt to keep their problems of challenges within themselves. Secondly, the number of attendees might become challenging if they exceed our expectations. This might influence the performance of our trainers who have been trained to handle a moderate class.
During the training, a group of 4-6 people will be used during the early morning class before joining a class of not more than 24 students in the afternoon class where they will be engaged in different systems according to the identified individual challenges each student might be facing.
Audience
Goals and objectives
The trainees will mainly, acquire skills and knowledge that will help them tackle the reality beyond high school life. This will prepare them to make informed and facts based decisions about their future past high school. The targeted participants are at their critical stage in life since the situation past high school will see them less dependent on their parents or tutors. Therefore, the training will take this advantage to ensure that every individual participating will have a positive life changing experience.
Various approaches to decision making should be addressed and the various approaches that trainees have been reliant on should be also taken into account. At the termination of the training, every trainee should have to be conversant decision making process thus being able to make clear judgments about his or her social, economic and academic life. Critical to decision making is clear identification and definition of existing or fore coming problem, trainees should be clear on this.
Assessment and evaluation strategy
The students would be assessed and evaluated using a test that would establish the level of understanding for the students. The test majors in evaluating the capacity of a student to pursue a particular career in the university or college. The student decision-making process should be based on the program whereby they are made aware of their strength and weakness. The program would thus be in a suitable position to assess and evaluated whether the final of the student concerning the career they should pursue is a good or wise decision.
The test would also examine the student social behavior that is it, should focus on how the student socially connected. The test should ensure it evaluates 95% of the student in different group choosing them randomly. At the end of the program, it should indicate the number of students that is set for admission and those that requires more mentorship. Further sensitization would ensure that all the students fit and psychologically prepared to adapt to the new environment.
Using the test on the other hand, may seem technical but it is very fundamental because it offers a platform for the graduates to get a preview of what is expected of them in the colleges and universities. It makes them conversant with the college and university and develops a positive attitude toward their career and social life. The training would face the challenges of unreliable results because some student fails to cooperate. Lack of cooperation from the students’ means that the program would not be based on facts hence poor judgment and advice would be offered to the student concerning the career choices. It would also undermine by the poor communication skills of some of the students making it difficult to get the feedback.
