Re. Participation in the Las Cruces Annual Book Festival
Dear Professor Schunia:
I am one of the organizers of the Las Cruces Annual Book Festival, which as you may know, takes place every year in October. During the 2015 fall semester I had the pleasure of taking your course entitled Modern Twentieth Century Literature across Cultures. Your class was instrumental in helping me acquire valuable insights into the literary significance of ethnic American and international writers such as Bernard Malamud, Leopold Senghor, Sandra Cisneros, Maxine Hong Kingston and many others.
Because I know firsthand your ability to make literature meaningful to students, I am asking you to participate in the Las Cruces Annual Book Festival as a guest speaker during our opening dinner ceremony. You may address the audience on any topic related to minority American writers. As you probably know, one of the themes of this year’s festival is immigrant voices as expressed in contemporary American Literature. The opening dinner ceremony will take place on October 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the Hilton Garden Inn. The Festival will run from October 5 to October 9, 2016.
As you may know, the goal of the festival is to bring readers, literary critics and authors together in a friendly environment, engaging in a variety of activities such as readings and discussions, panels writing workshops and book signing sessions.
I really hope we will be honored with your participation at the Festival. Do not hesitate to contact me at the above address or through e-mail if you require any additional information. Please accept my sincere thanks for considering my request. I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely Yours,
Festival Organizer
