As technology advances, a lot has been witnessed with inclusion of graphics and other multimedia facilities in communication. This has been a great improvement since the first generation computers sent only simple text messages but the current generation of computers and other communication products has the ability to send multimedia messages and graphics (George, 193).
In the sixth chapter of the book ‘digital planet: Tomorrow’s technology and you’, the author presents this upcoming technology of multimedia and graphics communication across a network or between a device and the user. The main question in discussion lies in the process of graphics communication and what it might lead into in the near future.
Use of graphics can be claimed to be the mother of multimedia. These are facilities meant to communicate more visually than in writing or verbally. A good example of multimedia is video conferencing. This form of multimedia helps in reducing the need for holding closed indoor meetings and instead the meeting is held by people who are in different geographical locations. This is both entertaining and time saving. For this reason, multimedia can be claimed to be rooted in visual entertainment derived from use of graphics in communication. It is also the main reason that can be attributed to have led to development of computer programs that can handle graphics (George, 202).
Back to the main question of how graphics communication is done and my personal opinion on graphics communication, I would like to begin by discussing graphics communication. To begin with, graphics require a large memory allocation compared to audio information. This can be claimed to affect even the transmission bandwidth alongside the type of encryption required for graphics communication.
At the heart of all this work are two main programs called 3-D modeling software and the computer aided design (CAD) These two programs are the most widely used in creating graphics.
After compression and sending, the graphics can be downloaded and extracted by the recipient. Due to the current internet insecurity, encryption on graphics has been developed to ensure that the data contained is not read by the unintended person. The commonly used encryption type is AES but still some hackers have an access to the information (George, 212).
Looking into this and trying to analyze it from an objective point, this technology can easily result in more people venturing in the field of technology. This can be supported by several factors across the whole topic as analyzed below.
Since graphics are gaining momentum and taking over mobile phone communication, more people will venture in this field leading to production of highly specific graphics for a certain piece of information to be communicated. In turn, this will result in reduction of text messages and probably almost make text messages extinct in the digital world.
Graphics in 3-D and mostly animations have come to help in some testing and analysis methods. For example, a student in computer engineering will have ample time to learn of the responses of a microprocessor by carrying out a CAD project instead of having to connect the components directly. This will also impact greatly on the electronics sector where testing will be solely by simulation and thus eliminate the problem of physical testing.
With the increasing need for precision in data communication and reduced time transfer for the message, the world is calling for the use of graphics in communication. This might result in creation of graphics that allow the use to customize them and embed any other information. This will lead to increased communication with higher precision and clarity.
The use of multimedia is most likely to take over some physical movement. For example, the study of causes of hurricanes is much easier using graphics for demonstration. This has eased the learning process across all fields and the need to move from one place to another so as to carry out an experiment has reduced.
Increased entertainment and mind refreshment. This has been made possible by the many games designed in graphics to represent real life situations. This reduces the amount of pressure levied in the human brain on top of having to fun with the games.
All in all, my personal opinion and view on this part of the book is objective on the use of graphics. Graphics have the power to communicate more effectively compared to written messages. It also breaks the monotony of writings and increases the visual attention of the intended message. By this the mode of communication is more effective compared to writing. In the future, I anticipate that graphics will improve in their use and have the ability to solve most of the real world problems. This is because solutions to real world problems can be modeled to fit under certain criterion enabling empirical resolution.
In conclusion, graphics and technology are taking a new dimension. As communication becomes more complex, entertainment is also increased. This brings about an equilibrium seeking effect to counter the intense pressure that might be levied to the brain.
