One goal of discipleship is to create synergy that leads to improved ministry operations. Why is ministry synergy an important element of effective discipleship? What are some of the key benefits and disadvantages of creating ministry synergy by focusing discipleship around the mission, vision, purpose, and goals of a church? Why?
Ministry synergy is a vital aspect in the path to discipleship maturity. This is because the effect of a combined effort by all the disciples is usually far much bigger than the individual effort each may exert. This is of course in relation to the strategies and projects that are in progress in a church setting. A key benefit of ministry synergy is that it is more dynamic compared to a personal approach (Brown, 2012). Ministry synergy enhances cohesion among disciples enabling the sharing of knowledge and skills to be more efficient. This ensures that disciples who are in a ministry develop faster than those who are in individual settings. This dynamism helps a church achieve its mission and vision of creating all rounded disciples way more fast and effecting positive change in the lives of these people to achieve the goals of a church (FaWatson, 2014). Ministry synergy can be hard to achieve since humans are not always cooperative to command and control (Roxburgh and Romanuk, 2006). Rebellion may thrive leading to failure of the discipleship strategy altogether.
As you reflect on the theology of discipleship, how will you change your methods of discipleship as a result of your reflection? How will what you have learned about the theology of discipleship affect your intended dissertation research?
The theology of discipleship impacted much knowledge to me causing me to change some of the methods of discipleship. A method that I would change is the mass approach to discipleship and concentrate on the personal theology of discipleship. The reflection of personal theology of discipleship uncovered the numerous merits that can be reaped from this method in discipling Christians. This knowledge and other knowledge achieved from the reflection will affect my dissertation research since it makes my research to be more accurate and precise. This is because the research will now have aim of developing a more comprehensive understanding of the strategies in personal theology as well as what can be done to enhance the positive effects of these method of discipleship.
