The renaissance period which occurred between 1400 and 1600 in Europe marked a significant face of history. It was a period of time when the continent was recovering from a dark past that was dominated by wars and diseases. It was a time to leave everything behind and look for permanent solutions that would change the continent forever (Parker, 115). The experiences that the continent went through opened the mind of the people who had no others were transformed into scientists, doctors, teachers and artists. This was a transformation that began in Europe and spread to other parts of the world. In this paper, we shall be looking at three significant occurrences that changed Europe and the world during the renaissance period.
The art industry is one of the areas that experienced a rebirth. This was inspired by what the continent had gone through and the need to preserve such experiences for future generations. Artists came up with designs that were significant to culture which have been a constant reminder of where they have come from (Sider, 147). The art industry also saw musicians come up with lyrics in honor of the fallen heroes, historic events and praise for the land and the people. As people got into music, discoveries were made on different ways through which they would perfect their skills. There was the invention of musical instruments and lyrics that have remained a significant part of history. Architectural designs were also invented and structures made to showcase the ancient establishments. The need to come up with structures for different functions and occasions also made the people more creative.
Scientific invention was also a significant face of the renaissance period. After the continent suffering from numerous diseases and poverty, there was need to come up with means and measures that would ensure such instances are minimized. This was demonstrated by the invention of medicine, agricultural equipments and even machineries. It is also through such scientific inventions that people realize the importance of hygiene for good health. More people ventured into the field of science with the aim of finding out what caused sicknesses and diseases and how this would be prevented and minimized (Sider, 62). Important health procedures such as isolation, having special places where the sick would be monitored and treated were discovered. Science enhanced food security through invention of farming equipments and techniques.
Another significant development during renaissance was education. This in fact became the ultimate solution to the problems that were facing the continent and the world. It is through education that more inventions were made and people’s mind opened. Scholars and educators were birthed and came up strongly to impart what they had learned to the rest of the people (Parker, 87). It was also during this time that philosophical scholars came up with theories to explain some of the occurrences that happened to humans. This transformed people from merely being religious into thinkers. They realized that most of the things that happened to them could be controlled only if they were keen about their actions. Education also made people to travel far and shared knowledge. This became significant in transforming the world into a global village. Technological inventions became the order of the day as people found easier ways to perform their activities.
