Abstract
This paper describes the various medical terminologies with their detailed meanings and brief definitions. The definitions and terminologies follow an essay which describes the many conditions and illnesses of the human body. It illustrates by discussing that certain diseases incurred by people might be similar in their symptoms and indications. Certain diseases are inherited by people and others can be incurred through environmental factors and growing age. The paper also explains that each part of the body is susceptible to disease. For instance, cancers can occur in many parts of the body and at times, an individual might not have had cancer, but the symptoms appear to be the same. However as cancer is known to occur by genetic causes or mutations, other diseases can occur without apparent reason as well as cure. At other times, diseases can be deceptive, and a very simple condition can turn into a major illness.
Medical science has identified various diseases and conditions of the human body that can occur at any point in a person’s life. Whereas some of the diseases are hereditary or genetic in disposition, others are caught in my genetic mutation, old age, and weakness or other factors (JAMA, 2013). Disease and illness can hit any part of the human body; be it the skin, inner organs, reproductive organs or any other target organ. For instance, Colorectal carcinoma is cancer that affects the colon and the rectum, which make up the large intestine. This condition usually occurs after the age of 50. A person might have benign cancer or malignant, depending on the spread of cancer cells. It can be treated with surgical removal of the diseased part or by radiation and chemotherapy (MayoClinic, 2016). A condition similar to cancer but not exactly cancer is Endometrial hyperplasia which is a thickening of the uterine lining. At times, it can become cancerous, if untreated and can lead to the removal of the uterus or intensive treatment (MayoClinic, 2016). As far as cancerous growth is related, Fibromuscular dysplasia is a condition that causes an abnormal growth in the inner wall of the arteries (MayoClinic, 2016). Mainly affecting the renal or carotid arteries, this condition can cause narrowing and enlargement of arteries. If untreated, it can cause high blood pressure and even tearing of the arterial walls. Other conditions can even occur without any visible illness, for example; Ectodermal dysplasia is a condition in which an abnormality begins to occur in the sweat glands, skin, hair, teeth, nails, etc. which have no apparent cure. They can only be cured through certain medication for the acquired condition. Another such condition is Ocular hypertension which is a condition caused by extra pressure in the eye, without any visible malfunction of the optic nerve. This, when untreated, can lead to glaucoma and even blindness in some people. (MayoClinic, 2016)
Colorectal carcinoma occurs when tumors are formed in the lining of the large intestine. It can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
