The issue of penalizing cheating students appears as a matter based on the rules and regulations of a particular college. Moreover, it depends on whether the particular college puts these laws into consideration whenever such acts occur. A number of steps can occur in case a student decides to cheat. All the steps taken when a student does this shameful act should appear in the laws that govern the college.
First, the act of cheating among college students appears as a rampant trend in numerous colleges and universities. The motivating factor that leads to this immense trend of cheating includes the fact that most colleges lack a strict administration and management. This motivates the students to carry out the cheating without any fear. In addition, the students manage to keep this act among them and none of them seems to care about the impacts associated with cheating and plagiarism.
As earlier mentioned, there exist several steps taken to punish cases of cheating among students. Would it appear reasonable to dismiss a student in case they commit the crime of cheating in the college? Well, this entirely depends on te regulations that govern the college. However, since my opinion appears required in this essay, it appears below. Before the administration of a dismissal report to a student found with the offence of cheating, it appears fundamental to practice consideration upon this student. To exercise this, a series of punishment should occur with subsequent cheating before the student gets dismissed from the college.
Secondly, what I perceive as the best method to handle cases of cheating appears in detail below. When a student tends to commit the cheating offence for the first time, the kind of punishment administered should appear rather mild. This occurs since the student only committed the offense once. The severity of the punishments given to the offensive student should increase with subsequent cheating done by the student. Before the administration of a particular college decides to dismiss a student because of cheating or plagiarism, the college should put some issues into consideration. For instance, the administration should consider the future of the student that could get destroyed by this brutal act. In addition, it should consider the trauma that the student may undergo after the incident, it should occur noted that some students simply get wooed into such uncouth behavior by their fellows.
As earlier stated, the severity of the punishment should match up with the number of times that the student breeches the law against cheating. Moreover, the college should state the maximum number of times a student will get pardoned from complete dismissal from the college. When the student surpasses this limit, then a dismissal notification should get granted.
Thirdly and finally, any student who attempts to surpass the limits stated should eventually face a dismissal. At that point, such a student should receive no mercy from the administration. This act tends to appear rampant among college students. In addition, this tendency may appear quit difficult to curb in the millions of colleges and universities around the world. This occurs since the students do not make any initiative to report their mates who carry out the act. In addition, those who do this bad act tend to infect the others who newly join the colleges. Thus, it appears as a menace in most if not all colleges.
In conclusion, it should occur noted that dismissing a cheating student may appear as a rather brutal way of punishing them. However, this method of handling such offenders may appear crucial in case the offender carries it out a number of times. On first attempt of this offence, the student should encounter severe punishment that may include suspension from college for certain duration. If the student proves incorrigible, then the final decision of dismissing the student should occur. Finally, dismissing the student when they commit the offence for the first time may destroy their future of cause immense psychological torture to them.
