Movie Review
In this clip Teddy K is quite forceful in his leadership characteristics as he seems to take hold of the situation and provides a rather forceful attempt to solve it. Still his use of words is occasionally quite hollow and he is definitely more out to impress than to actually cut to the core of what is happening. So in a sense Teddy is both offering leadership qualities but is rather short of charisma anyway.
What kind of leadership does Dan (Dennis Quaid) represent in this scene?
Dennis is a quiet and rather reserved person but he can also be of firm disposition. Although he is less blustery than teddy he still seems to be able to get his own way in this respect and this evidently shows in the final result which demonstrates that his wishes are actually satisfied.
How do most people respond to the authority represented by Teddy K?
When this type of firm approach is imparted, people would obviously retract slightly from the norm and would perhaps react according to their character. This would mean that they would most probably rebel against such a type of an arbitrary authority and would definitely make the situation harder in every sense.
Is Teddy K an example of Great Man Theory? Why or why not?
Not really as his lack of charisma does not mean that he is a powerful man at all. He attempts to hide this weakness with forceful characterization and certain devious methods but the end result is that he ends up weaker than he started and this final outcome is a debunkation of the theory.
