Dear Hiring Manager:
I hereby present my application for an internship position in your institution. I am currently a Bachelor of Art student pursuing Advertising and Public Relations as my major at the University of Michigan in my final year. While I am well equipped with a comprehensive media and public relations background, I place my emphasis on humanitarian interests. My qualifications as a media student will help your organization in building relationships, promoting as well as benefiting the reputation of your organization in international forums. Furthermore, I will be a great asset for recruitment purposes, communication of messages to gain allies and supporters as well as funding agencies. Besides, having the honor of serving as a prospective intern in your company will grant me the much-needed exposure that is necessary for my career advancement.
In addition to my analytical skills and strengths, I also bring to the table advanced skills from the units that I have so far handled and which I find useful in this field. The subjects include Technology in PR & Advertising, Story Making, Advertising Copywriting, News Reporting, and Introduction to Computing, Media Planning, Advertising & PR Campaign and Still Photography. These are subjects that I believe are very relevant and essential in an organization such as this. Being a human rights crusader in his right, I am particularly moved by the vision and mission of VOA. Based on its mandate to continually broadcast balanced, accurate and comprehensive news coverage of events, I could look no further. My media planning, skill photography, as well as New reporting skills, will also be of use as every organization looks up to these features for the direct sale of its brand. Moreover, my cross-cultural experiences and competencies acquired in news media, as well as my fluency in languages, will help in information gathering as well as its dissemination. Upon graduating from my university, I look forward to working for a company that specializes in information from a wider global sense, and that is what I find at VOA.
I previously held voluntary positions in a habitat for humanity organization where I helped build a house for the less fortunate in Thai. While doing this, I came to terms with the plight of the disadvantaged in society, an advantage I would apply to help VOA with quality assurance issues as well as getting to areas no one dared try to visit. I also learned that everyone has a voice regardless of their positions in the society, hence, must have audience.
