One of the most important historical events of all time is the Industrial Revolution in England. The 19th century became a very important time for England where the country was going to take a turn from its purely agricultural state to an industrial one. The most important role leading to this transformation was played by the social and political changes that took place in that era. While coal mining was one of the most profitable and lucrative businesses of the time, the discovery of transport routes and the accompanied cheap cost of transportation became one of the main reasons leading to the invention of the steam engine. Inventions such as water pumps made it even more convenient to mine from below the ground which led to more availability of coal. Thus more inventions came into being (Senna).
A bigger change in society was visible when the Church did not interfere in the process of the industrial revolution In Britain nor did it condemn the inventions that were a resultant of it, as opposed to its dislike for novelty and invention in other European countries (Senna). What transformed English culture at the time was the Age of Reason, where scientists, scholars, painters and inventors were at the cutting edge of knowledge. The steam engine happened to one invention of the time that represented the 19th and 20th-century locomotives that would be driven soon after understanding its operatives. James Watt put forth his ingenious model for the steam engine which was then built with a herd of inventors and people willing to make it work (Senna). England’s coal reserves happened to be the main reason why the Industrial Revolution took place there. Moreover, with the country’s growing impact upon other countries, the trade and exchange of information led to the greater influence of the British culture over other cultures, making British culture a predominantly popular one (Senna).
Another important revolution in time is the Haitian Revolution. It represented the most oppressed and downtrodden members of mankind, which means the colored people in society. As people of color were enslaved and usually referred to as slaves, this revolution became an outlet for them to express their feelings and oppose the atrocities they were facing at the hands of the white race. The Revolution was labeled Egalite for All, meaning that every human being was supposed to be considered another person’s equal (Uptown Flava).
This revolution was inspired by the upheaval caused by the preceding French Revolution, and the leaders of the Revolution used the similarly incorporated ideas to create the Black Republic for their own kind. The limelight of the event was placed a black general named Toussaint Louverture, and Toussaint became such an inspiration to the world that many began to equate him with leaders such as George Washington. This movement was inspiring in its own self and greatly revived the idea of human rights in general (Uptown Flava). The Black race found a voice for itself and this revolution can be seen as a starting point for freedom and equality of all mankind, irrespective of their color or ethnicity. The 19th century then came to see such a turn of events where the Southern planters were deeply traumatized whereas black slaves were motivated to move for their freedom from exploitation (Uptown Flava).
Furthermore, the Haitian Revolution was a complete show of all the African beliefs, values, societal and cultural setup and what the people of color believed about themselves. All through its course, the leaders as well as followers upheld their musical and religious rites and displayed them to the world, thus inspiring all to believe in their culture and strengthen their position in the world (Uptown Flava).
