Martha, 23-years old, had lost her parents through a grisly accident at the age of nine years along the Joe DiMaggio Highway while on their way home in Manhattan from a weekend fellowship. Life had been adorable and as the only child in the family, all the attention of the parents was turned to her. To the demise of her parents, she had been treated like a queen and her experience in Manhattan was memorable. The love of her family became the center of admiration for many families who deemed the family models of moral perfection. Her virtuous father often acted a community motivator and volunteer who helped the poor and the orphans. They had been rooted in strong Christian devotion that nobody would imagine Martha’s destiny as it turned out in her adulthood. However, the accident rendered her parentless, and that marked the turning point in her life. As she recalls the voice of her father while taking a walk in the park, the memories of a father tried to instill religious virtues into his daughter still lingers. “My daughter, try and be a model of virtuous life when you grow up,” she recounted. The death left her in the hands of well-wishers who made life unbearable. As she grew of age, the agonies of being an orphan became real. She had dropped out of school, and the adopters mistreated her to their satisfaction. In her imaginary world, nobody cared. At the age of 13 years, a young lady took her to a friends’ bash in the neighborhood where she had met several young girls of her age with an old man who appeared like their master. She had come face to face with a pimp. It is on that day that she was recruited into prostitution. Since then, she has never looked back, and that remains her source of livelihood.
