He is of the idea that all human beings suffer in the various form of degree by awakening the emotion of true manhood. It is however given to the few - the vision of being a leader.
An inspiration to humankind born in men, which always and naturally met with opposition due to ignorance and lack of know-how in leadership. Opposition sometimes lacks understanding fully the spirit of leadership. Negroes should understand their leadership with the dawn of this new era, which brings the day of national independence for the race. They should know its essentials and principles to aid in attaining of its goals in the liberation of the Negro community. The writer goes on to express that opportunity has never yet satisfied the feeling of hope to suffering people. Only action and self-reliance, together with a vision of secured future, has been the only way the oppressed have seen the liberation of their freedom.
He further elaborates how life is the existence given to humans to live for a purpose in their satisfaction of pleasure. By this doing, he should never forget that the God, who created him, expects obedience in observation of ethical and moral laws, which he inspires spiritually on him. It is the belief and only confidence that a person has to God that he has to understand his only social institutions, and act rationally. The author calls for Africa to awake in working for the glorious end of a free mighty and redeemed mighty nation.
The writers calling for “wake up Ethiopia! Wakeup Africa!” is an inspirational challenge for unity in redemption. Negroes should have determination in their endeavor because forces of the world are operating against unorganized people, who do not protect themselves and their interests. Global Political readjustment means that the less prepared will be at the mercy of the organized group of people. Power is the only protection against the injustice of man, whether physical or financial. How that is then Africa cannot be redeemed, when there are human beings held with warm blood in unity, not in the divine, but unity.
A group of slaves constitutes one without the foundation of industry, opportunities and political freedom. Negroes heading towards opportunities and a greater freedom is a threat to the oppressor. Liberty comes about in order for the new era to be defined. In summation, it is evident in the author’s content that leadership is etched in every individual. What is required is one to have a self-drive in all of our actions to play the relevant role in society. Leadership remains one area in which Negroes are still not fully in tandem with at the global level. Garvey insisted on the emancipation of the same by empowering self-reliance and self-sustenance as the basis of leadership nurturing.
