Introduction
The Jung Typology Personality Test was taken and the results indicated that my personality type is the INTJ (Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging). The current discourse hereby aims to respond to the following questions based on the results of the personality test, in conjunction with one’s assessment of the manner by which my personality type affects my career, motivation, as well as evaluation of my strengths and weaknesses as deemed applicable in current or future jobs.
How does my personality type affect my career and effectiveness at my job?
My personality type, the INTJ, was revealed to be exhibiting preponderances for areas that include the following: “requiring intensive intellectual efforts, presenting intellectual challenge, and creative approach. Due to the characteristics mentioned above, successful INTJs are found in technological companies, particularly in research and development, and also found among corporate lawyers, high- and mid-rank managers in technology companies and financial institutions” .
What did the test reveal about you?
The test revealed the distinct characteristics, specifically the moderate preference for introversion (38%), marginal or almost no preference of intuition over sensing (3%), the slight preference for thinking over feeling (9%), and affirmed or distinct preference for judging over perceiving (69%) . From reviewing the assessment of the results, one realized the tendency to be a perfectionist, being extremely private, imaginative and reliable, among others .
What can you infer from this test about your strengths and weaknesses?
projection of an aura of definiteness or self-confidence, recognizing what one knows and what one does not know, and a gift for seizing opportunities . On the other hand, the weaknesses are: being perfectionist, less patience and understanding in terms of social and interpersonal relationships, tends to deeply care for only a selected few .
How does what you know about your personality type affect your motivation? Is this specific to a limited type of situation?
The knowledge of the characteristics, traits, and strengths as well as weaknesses of my personality type affect my motivation in terms of becoming more aware in focusing on being significantly driven by factors that are structured, planned, and well-organized. As such, I tend to appreciate work settings with clear policies on procedures about rewards and punishments to enable driving at standards that would achieve explicitly defined goals. I believe the motivation is applicable in more generalized types of situations.
What specific steps can you take to increase your strengths and build up areas of
weakness?
After identifying the strengths, one could work on increasing or capitalizing on these by applying them in contexts that would influence and help others to work more efficiently and effectively in needed situations. On the other hand, the weaknesses could be addressed by exposing oneself more in social situations and with people of diverse cultural origins to develop social skills as well as patience and respect for other people’s values and beliefs. For instance, I could undertake training in building interpersonal relationships through attending customer service training programs. I could also work on developing leadership skills so that I could
develop emotional intelligence and be more sensing and perceiving of others’ needs.
