Before I watched the adaptation of the eponymous novel by Jane Austen, I had the opportunity to know directly the product. I love syllable of Austin, her brushwork, irony and subtle English humor, behind which lies the limitless depth: the philosophical view of things, the principles of steel and tender feelings, capable of sacrifice. Her works are distinguished by a certain purity and innocence. It is touching for me, the representative of pampering generation and frankness in the relationship between men and women, invisible thread between Emma and her chosen one held in the exciting voltage.
Jane Austen is bright, romantic and certainly memorable writer, the early nineteenth century. Her works are still readable and adored by millions. Almost all of her novels into films, and many times, and they are also appreciated. With the help of current adaptations of her novels come to life again, and you plunge into this era with his head. In the era of balls, courtesy and sincerity, and real, true love.
The novel "Emma" is the pinnacle of creativity of Jane Austin. This novel was the last work of the writer and it differed in small print runs, which is very upset. But now people discuss it much more than the novel "Pride and Prejudice". It was hard to imagine a more accurate adaptation of the famous novel. The scenario is, of course, cut down, but so delicately that the overall picture has not changed. But most of all I prefer actors. Of course, Emma herself appeared to me a brunette, but nevertheless the character, manners, expression of thoughts transferred very accurately!
The plot of the film, of course, revolves around a girl named Emma, who is trying to arrange a personal life of her friends, while forgetting about their own. She did not notice Mr. Knightley, the only person who can support it, praise and, if necessary, to scold. Will Emma be able to understand yourself, think about the fact that her fate is just two steps away from her, and think, finally, of himself, and not the other?
The cast of the film was picked up very well. Emma played by Gwyneth Paltrow turned out just great. It is and must be Emma: kind sympathetic, a little naive and whimsical In general, once again we can see that Gwyneth Paltrow really great actress.
Emma Woodhouse - the heroine of the novel of the same name, beautiful, rich, lovely and is always happy to help anyone but themselves. She believes that she is all about what dream 21 years young lady, dear lady of high society of the time. Jane Austen wrote about Emma: “a character whom no one but me will much like.” (Irena, “Character Connection: Emma Woodhouse”) Initially Emma did not recognize it, but not looking on what it is now really many fans and admirers seeking to imitate her. Miss Woodhouse lives with his father and all the free time she dedicates and adores trouble-shooter personal lives of her friends and acquaintances. Emma is always right, different opinions cannot be. It always has been and is now, and the society in accordance with it. Miss Woodhouse little princess, and she always knows whom and with whom will be good. However, it is too romantic and young, to see the reality of life. She's like a little Cupid, makes boom in people's hearts, not thinking about their personal feelings and intentions, she said, that can never be mistaken in their choice. The heroine Gwyneth Paltrow is not easy as it seems at first glance. Gwyneth is not the top actress for me, but Emma was supposed to be just that. Gwyneth was able to survive this affair as I experienced it.
Emma is a good example. From stubborn and naive girls she grew up in a very refined, fair and wise young lady who knows how to listen to and enjoy the events previously cited it in horror. But just the same it remains warm attitude to Mr. Knightley, they listened to his heart and gave vent to feelings that he is completely stopped. Arranging the fate of others, Emma forgot him. This love grew stronger out of respect and sincerity, care and responsibility.
As for the performances, the "Emma" movie decided not to stick too plot turn. Some moments were cut. And panoramic photography was also small, because of what a little sweet heart of England the atmosphere is lost. Although, it should be noted that the costumes and historical moments in the movie "Emma" transferred accurately, and the eye will not be cut outright flaws in the formulation.
Also, we cannot say that the script worked on the first-class level. Some important points from the book were lit as if casually and sometimes the side-line, on the contrary, worked out in great detail. But we have to admit, it does not spoil the overall picture of the film. Each person has his own vision of the situation, and, in my opinion, the selection of plot moves that will affect the outcome of the story, especially individual case.
One big difference is the relations between Emma and Harriet Smith, especially towards the end. In the book it is clear that the friendship between them is over. They remain the only persons which know each other but each of them has a different friends. In fact, in the book you get the idea that everyone realizes that they never were true friends, in the truest sense of the word. Harriet feelings were more awe that someone so high socio will include it in a circle of friends, even though Harriet was an illegitimate child with no known family, no connections and no money. Emma puffed up pride, because it was a little "hero worship" in Harriet Emma because Emma felt that she was "improved" Harriet its notification. In the film, you'll get an idea of friendship was true, and will continue even after their respective marriages.
As for lesser differences: in the end, there is a large gap between Emma and Harriet that shows when Harriet mentions she thinks Mr. Knightley takes care of her. Harriet became quite offended when she realizes that Emma did not like the idea of Harriet and Mr. Knightley. Emma Harriet holds off on purpose, because it opens the eyes of Emma her true feelings for Mr. Knightley and Harriet will be around just to annoy her. Then, when Mr. Knightley and Emma engagement and Harriet is talking about it, Harriet inconsolable and Emma is convinced that Harriet could go to London for a while (in fact, not leaving the house, Mr. John Knightley while she city dentist visits). This fault is only offered in the film, but probably due to lack of time, has not been fully revealed. Another small difference was at the end, when Mr. Knightley returned from a visit to his brother in London, he meets Emma on her way home from visiting Woodhouse home. In fact, he meets Emma while she is in her own garden in the book. He attended Woodhouse home and spent some time with Mr. Woodhouse, Emma, before looking in the book.
In the film, Emma goes to Mrs. Weston, to tell her that she loves Mr. Knightley, but that he might like Harriet. That did not happen in the book. Of course, there are other differences and omissions, but things should be left as even the mini-series will not include a sufficient number of hours to show everything. They do not show the fact John Knightley begins to understand, Mr. Elton finds himself in love with Emma, and thinks that it was in favor of it, but Mr. John Knightley warns Emma that before the Christmas party which proposes Mr. Elton and Emma mocks him for not having insight.
But essentially this movie is perfect for educational purposes. The crew did a wonderful product of a serious vacationer film (though, as always, that the wild characteristic of Hollywood). You are not here to see deep psychology or serious philosophical reflections on the meaning of life, but the content of the book itself transferred sufficiently accurately so that after watching this film, you will be able to easily maintain a conversation on the topic of the book.
In conclusion, I want to say: if you want to join the classics of world literature, but do not have time to read it, plus you do not want to bother with unnecessary digressions, and only interested in the story - this film is for you. Undoubtedly, fans of the book will not be happy to film adaptation. There is just a bit from the true atmosphere of Jane Austen and the correct interpretation of the essence of the work. But as a standalone product film looks pretty good.
"Emma" is a fairy tale with a nice tip and deep meaning, with seemingly not how eye-plot. But Jane Austen would have had it if her novels were not as attractive and interesting. It creates heroes like us and everyone can find a place in the pages of her works, which certainly creates something really special and unpredictability of its masterpieces.
2. For the past 200 years have passed since then, as a novel by Jane Austen, was released. Much has changed during this time. We invented cars, movies, flew into space, it is difficult to imagine our homes without electricity. But that was much later. Jane Austen did not catch the rapid progress that occurred in the late 19th century. She lived in an era of coaches, candles, in an era when the art of flying on the set-up man, could only dream of visionaries like Jules Verne. Books of Jane allow at least for a time to plunge into an era of precious dandy, humble innocent girls. But for 20 years there is a TV series, through which you can turn back time if you have a feeling of neighbor or friend Darcy Lizzy. Through which you can see the living embodiment of the favorite characters, hardly undergone changes, almost literally transferred to a love story, born in spite of the initial rejection.
I find it very elegant and harmonious of all the adaptations of the novels of Jane Austen. It is light, easy and addictive movie kept a profound content and is almost completely transferred to the plot. But if the latter 2 points were made possible by serial films and working writer, the first - the whole merit of the director Simon Langton (Jeeves and Wooster, fate line) and actors.
The film which was made by BBC is very similar to the book. Elizabeth is a very kind, cheerful girl who loves and appreciates her family. Lizzie’s feelings towards are also represented Mr. Darcy very well. Also her meeting with Lady Catherine de Bourgh is very similar in the movie and book. Of course, there are some differences between these stories. Darcy and Bingley Nezerfild decide to explore and horseback riding. This is different from the book. There's Mrs. Bennet learned that Bingley comes from Mrs. Long. Elizabeth sees both of them returned. In the book, she meets them for the first time.
Jane shocked by her mother's plan to send her on horseback. Jane's reaction is not described in the book, the team of its mother, and Jane can be seen in obedience of sister Jane Bingley questioned about his family, when she faints. In the book, Jane's note saying that she was not feeling up Bennets what happened after Jane reached Netherfield is not described. Mrs. Bennet, Elizabeth offers to go to Kitty and Lydia in the Meriton to meet with officers. In the book, Mrs. Bennet, Elizabeth says she is not suitable to see if it goes in the mud, but does not offer any other suggestions. Kitty and Lydia excited about meeting officers, Mr. Bennet calls them fools. The book does not give detailed information about the reaction of Mr. Bennett. Darcy walks the grounds, when Elizabeth arrives at Netherfield to nurse Jane. In the book, Elizabeth is shown in the breakfast room, where all but Jane is present. Elizabeth sets out in search of Bingley and Darcy meet for a game of billiards. In the book, Elizabeth does not work alone Darcy unexpectedly. Mrs. Bennet enters Netherfield asked Kitty and Lydia, if it is not a fair prospect. The book does not mention the notes Mrs. Bennet to join the site.
Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth captivated me from the first viewing. Maybe El appearance is not so beautiful, but infinitely charming. She, of course, managed to bring calm, intelligent and charismatic Elizabeth Bennet, compares favorably with most others pacifiers. It is alien to some vanity and it is sharp in his judgments, but also good and full of self-esteem. The image is very attractive. Colin Firth above all praises. His Mr. Darcy turned out so good. Arrogant, sarcastic, always bored and unsociable, he meets a worthy opponent, and in the process of "fighting" reveals qualities such as education, nobility and, oddly enough, simplicity and love to communicate with loved ones and pleasant people to him. “A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.” (Austen 52)Watch the fight feelings of prejudice, by this pair of actors - a true delight.
Crafty Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth as a grim if descended from the pages of the book. It is this, I saw the cheerful and reasonable Lizzie, in which so appealing joined self-confidence, intelligence, love of life and fun. And Mr. Darcy simply irresistible by Colin Firth, his silence is more eloquent than words, the eyes he skillfully conveys the true character of his hero, albeit full of pride, if not always able to properly and effectively talk about their feelings, but at the same time in the shower is very loving, fair and gentle charming man. It is this combination because it attracts, especially coupled with the ability to act, and not in vain chatter.
I really liked the rest of the actors, especially admired the play of Benjamin Withrow and Alison Steadman (Mr. and Mrs. Bennet), Crispin Bonham Carter (Mr. Bingley), David Bamber (Mr. Collins had turned so disgusting!) and Barbara Leigh-Hunt (Lady Catherine de Burgh). The direction is explanatory, the script and smooth are good. There are a lot of funny moments.
England. The 19th century. Bennet family, though not rich, but it has enough means of subsistence. The basic reason for the frustration and feelings of the older generation is the lack of an heir in the presence of 5 daughters of marriageable age. The property can be transferred only male relative, while unmarried daughters may be after the death of a parent to remain without a livelihood. Search advantageous match for her daughter becomes the main line of the novel and the series, with the development of the characters that have to be removed from the current events sometimes not the most pleasant lessons. Someone will be able to learn from their mistakes, someone destined to continue to live in idleness and ignorance. His main hope Mr. and Mrs. Bennet is associated with the eldest daughter, Jane, the most beautiful, besides having a gentle and good character. The second daughter, Lizzie has an outstanding appearance, but in its case, all can spoil her sharp tongue, combined with frankness in statements. After all, not every person is, the more selfish wealthy aristocrat, in favor of which the family needs so can sometimes take a very unpleasant view of you.
About the characters and their performers can talk for a long time and tasteful, but is unlikely to review such volumes deserve approval, so, perhaps, focus on key. Lizzie is very charming, feminine. Abnormal facial features do not repel, rather the contrary gives her a special charm. But apart from the merits it has its drawbacks. That is the prejudice that prevents it from Start to objectively evaluate the two men suddenly broke into her life and changed it forever. As the novel she has to accept that the apparent vision may be only a consequence of subjective judgment, the fact that it is wishful thinking. Such as reading the book draws its imagination. Mr. Darcy - coldness, pride, and read in his eyes. But it is also evident in his appearance the nobility, the ability to recognize the wrongfulness. The first time repels others and the viewer. But as the nature of the disclosure, you begin to understand that the character is far more complicated than it might seem at first glance. At its shortcomings it may at the same time be a caring brother, hospitable host, a true friend and a loving husband. The appearance of Jane is a little different in the film and in the book. However, the character is almost the same in two versions. Our eyes appear sweet, kind, somewhat naive, too idealizing own girl environment. However, even she eventually has to accept that some members of the human race for visual appeal can hide the rotten nature. Mr. Collins - a very unpleasant character and it's not that the law Longbourn after the death of Mr. Bennet would go to him. Silly is smug servility, too self-confident. However, for all the shortcomings of the character, the actor as watching the show there is sympathy. So he got used to the role, showing all the flaws of character Collins that hero just starts to hate fiercely.
As a substantial part, Jane Austen put emphasis on the fact that you should not judge a person, guided by first impressions. Worse, he or good, but in this and in another case, can easily be mistaken about him, which could lead sometimes to unpleasant consequences. Again, considering the question of what love should be, it seems to me, Jane Austen is inclined to think that the best thing is when feelings arise gradually, and time-tested actions.
Be sure to tell and a stunning musical accompaniment, gives the film additional charm. The scenery is insanely beautiful, panoramic views, home painting and costumes.
In the creation of BBC you cannot see the modern vulgarity or a completely different interpretation of the story. Strong emotional outbursts will hide behind the outward calm, prudence and due to the limits of decency. But here is what you can see in the novel of the famous writer, England at the time, to feel its spirit and imbued with its ideals. Nothing is perfect in nature and everything has a flaw, even very tiny. But the authors of this mini-series miraculously managed to get as close to perfection in terms of creating the film adaptation of the book, which is read and loved for over two centuries. Watch this show if you plunge into the atmosphere of the era and the Jane Austen novel. Heroes, household description and subtle humor are slowly over time, a very careful and respectful to the source. The authors managed to create an almost perfect, which almost certainly will not be able not something to beat, but not even worth trying to repeat.
This film is worth seeing because it shows the work of overcoming pride, based on the family's wealth and high and noble origins of prejudice, inspired by not very pleasant first experience of another. To be happy, you deserve this happiness - love, compassion and generosity that demonstrates this film.
