Real Madrid is deemed to be one of the most popular and widely supported soccer clubs worldwide. In addition, whites were deemed to be the most popular club on the social media in 2015 leaving behind the other successful clubs with a large margin. The members of the Real Madrid are the owners of the club and they have operated it throughout the history.
No wonder, that currently Real Madrid is one of the most respected clubs in the world due to its long-lasting achievements, however, it is interesting to observe the people behind such good scores. Surely, football players make the vital share in the success of the club; yet, coaches are also the important assets of clubs' success. Therefore, this essay will provide a short historical development of the club and will also show ups and downs throughout its long professional career.
Football came to Spain in the late 1900s as the British immigrants to Spain brought knowledge of the game to the country and by 1902-1910s it quickly occupied the minds of Spaniards ("About Real Madrid | Real Madrid CF"). In 1890, Spain's first official football game was organized in Seville (Allen). In 1902, the Madrid Football Club was formed and in 1920, King Alfonso added the word “Real” to the club’s name and it is being known by the name of Real Madrid Club.
In the early 20s, Real Madrid made several overseas tours and slowly started the process of teams' popularity outside of Spain too. The regional Spanish teams started competing with each other in the year 1915 and the national team of the country, La Seleccion played at the Olympic Games in the year 1920 and also won the silver medal (Allen). It also further strengthened the positive path of Spanish football. By the year 1926, Football became the most popular game in Spain. Hence, in the year 1927, a national football league was also proposed and 10 Spanish teams were formed (Allen).
Later on, the team was joined by famous Ricardo Zamora who was soon followed by Ciriaco and Quincoces ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF"). They established the best defense and considered as the best players in the world. The result was overwhelmingly positive and the Real Madrid was granted four titles (two in La Liga and two Copas). From the 40s and 50s, the team started its long lasting competition with Barcelona.
The next decade is deemed to be glorious for the team. Madrid Real, led by Alfredo Di Stéfano, won five European Cups and surprised the football fans and the entire world by its highly productive decade ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF"). The team was declared to be called 'king of kings' and it won the first edition of the Intercontinental Cup (1960) to further prove to be the best team of that time ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF").
The next decade brought some changes for the team. Their success was in force and was not going to fade away. Within the country itself, they won eight league championships, five of them on the trot and including and a league-cup double ("About Real Madrid | Real Madrid CF"). The team won the Sixth European Club in overseas ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF").
In the next decade, the Whites won its sixth La Liga trophy that somehow symbolized the death of Santiago Bernabéum who used to be the president of the club and put lots of efforts in the success of the club. He was replaced by Luis de Carlos who continued to lead the club for next seven years. In his tenure, he earned himself recognition throughout the world.
In the 1980s, the Real Madrid was being considered as the best teams in the history of football and the team won the first two UEFA Cups in this decade as well. The next decade marked the team to be more successful with the addition of successful coaches, Jorge Valdano, Vicente del Bosque, and Fabio Capello ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF"). A number of new players were also added to the team.
In the year 2011 and 2012, the team won another three trophies. The team won by Liga title again by record-breaking points of 100 and 121 goals ("Real Madrid Football History | Real Madrid CF"). This was the highest scores achieved by a team throughout the history. The team again won the European title in the year 2014 and enjoyed wonderful years of success.
I love Real Madrid because they are not only the successful team in the world and throughout the history, but also have the richest economy in the world. Manchester United has won three Champions League trophy, Barcelona and Liverpool have 2 and 5 Champions League titles respectively. There are some other clubs as well who have just started to grow and cannot be compared with the success of the Real Madrid Club.
Real Madrid team has won 32 La Liga titles, 11 European Clubs and 2 intercontinental trophies and many more other titles as well. The Real Madrid Club was honored with “FIFA Club of the 20th Century” in December 2000. The clubs mentioned above cannot match the success of Real Madrid or can even come closer to the team. Real Madrid is the Champion of Champions and it is the only team to hold the cup in property as they have won the title for the five times consecutively.
The team also has played many other finals and semi-finals than any other team in this world and this success makes them the best team in the history of soccer. The team got success in every decade, right from the beginning of the club. The team is also considered the most entertaining soccer team in the world along with their free flowing asset. The main reason behind their success was the addition of some real great players in the team along with the responsible managers who managed to get a hold of the team and made them play like a united team.
The team’s style of play is also very unique as compared to the other soccer teams. Short passes and attacking from the middle is one of the great play styles of the team. Isco and Tony Kroos have always controlled the midfield and they also have the capability to control their possession. On the other side, the speed of Ronaldo cannot be beaten as well. The ability of the Frenchmen to switch with Ronaldo is one of the best qualities of the team. Benzema has the capacity to switch his positions at certain intervals and this quality forces the defenders to always stay aware of his switching movements. It represents the free flowing quality that makes the opposite team chase the play.
The team takes a lot of shots as well and this makes them different from others. The best thing about the Real Madrid team is the unity among all the team members. They are not at all aggressive with each other, which is very important to be successful. They always control the game in the opposition’s half and this trait is only possible when the team plays together, rather than individuals.
The Real Madrid team has always flourished and has created a great team environment. The management has always tried to accommodate every player in the team. The team has shown a remarkable success and this is only possible with the support of the management.
The Real Madrid team was awarded as the World’s Best Club of 2014 award as well. The team won a number of different titles in the year 2014, such as the Club World Cup, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League. This year was a fantastic year for the team. Cristiano Ronaldo was also honored as the Top Scorer and the Best Top Division Goalscorer of the World as well in the year 2014.
Although the team is known for many great soccer players, but the team as a whole is the reason for a successful career throughout its history. Every player in the team has considered the Real Madrid as their second family and when they come on the field, they know what they have to do in order to achieve their target as a team. This is one of the best qualities of the Real Madrid team.
