The price of the pound that greatly fell. The alternative is that the supply of pounds increased as the British consumers could sell the pounds in order to buy dollars.

Pricing Commonly Owned Substitute Products
17) Branded drugs face generic entry by rival drugs that typically take 80% of sales away from the branded drug within three years. This loss occurs because generic drugs are much cheaper than branded drugs, and most insurance companies won’t pay for a branded drug if a generic is available. But in one instance, the branded-drug maker sued the generic entrant for violating its patent. In the settlement negotiations that ensued, the branded-drug maker offered to pay the generic entrant $10 million to settle the patent dispute by staying out of the industry. Yes, It is important to take the offer because the payoff is going to be $1 or nothing. In this game, the other player will have the advantage. In the last game, I will have no influence on the game or its rules. If I could figure out how to effectively signal before the game that I would be able to accept only a fair deal and reject any of the other offers. This would take away the advantage of the other player.

The adverse selection arises when one party to a transaction is better informed than the other. The problem with soft selling is that the buyer does not know if the seller is telling them the truth to get them to purchase the product. The information asymmetry occurs when the seller will offer to discuss the products, as the buyer is not aware of how well the system actually works. Therefore, this type of selling is a successful signal, as it lets the buyer know that they will not have to pay unless the product works. When the company reveals the information about themselves to the buyer, they are indicating they offer a high quality product or service.
