Introduction
Many factors related to management determine the success of failure of business. One of the most critical area in management that organizations must put more emphasize on is the material ordering process. Organizations consider many factors before ordering for materials, which affect the overall performance of the business. Material ordering falls under the supply chain management that determines the availability of products and services necessary to run the business. Supply of materials act as the backbone for the business success irrespective of how one manages manufacturing and distribution processes. On the other hand, the process of ordering materials adopted by an organization determines the success or failure of the business. The following paper analyzes the success of Tires Plus Total Care Care in the United Stated.
Success of Tire Plus auto repair facility
Overview of the business
Tires Plus is a motor vehicle repair facility with headquarters located in Florida. The company was started in 1976 and continues to record high performance in the state of Florida and US because of effective management practices. Tire Plus has managed to achieve continuous growth even in the modern business world because of defying the traditional business stereotype of the automobile industry and embracing modern business practices. The company has more than 5,000 members of staff and about 500 stores across 23 states; hence, stands on the first lane in the delivery of automobile products and vehicle servicing. The main services offered at the shop are tire replacement, auto repair services, and general vehicle maintenance services (Tire Plus, 2016).
The success of Tire Plus through material ordering
The effectiveness of the management team leading the organization determines its success. The management at Tire Plus works throughout the year to ensure customers always get quality products and services at all times. The company believes in more than customer satisfaction; hence, ensures her customers never miss anything and have a variety of options to choose from when they visit the store for vehicle repair or maintenance services. The company is proud of its performance because they claim to have thousands of tires for all types of vehicles and will not delay giving customers a quotation for any tire with best prices in the market. On the other hand, the company offers total car care with every store equipped with adequate products to replace missing parts of the customers' cars and any other maintenance needs (Tire Plus, 2016). The above explanation reveals that the company conducts an effective material ordering process to ensure supply of tires and vehicle spare parts to customers all year round.
Materials ordered by the Tire Plus Company meets these qualifications making it possible for the business to succeed and stand a better chance to win the regional competition. Supply chain management has gained high demand in many organizations today, and many integrate it as a key business process. The supply chain process adopted should incur the minimum business costs while maximizing on revenues generated from services or sales of products supplied. According to Croxton, Garcia-Dastugue, and Lambert (2001), speedy operations, reducing cost, and enhancing quality act as the key processes that promote the success of organizations in the contemporary business environment. Any service business like the auto repair shop must ensure a constant supply of quality and adequate materials to meet demands of never-ending customers. The method of acquiring these materials from the manufacturer and the process of transporting them to the show determines the cost of supplying.
The process of ordering these materials from the manufacturer or the distributor and delivering them to the shop may affect the business performance positively or negatively. A successful business should observe the following qualities when ordering for materials. These are identity, company appraisal, purity, value, composition, and potency freshness (Galloway, 2015). Tire Plus orders its materials from reputable companies that have the capacity to supply products according to the company’s demands. The company audits the supplier of materials before giving it a supply tender to determine its suitability in meeting supply goals. Moreover, the presence of the material requirement planning system (MRPS) makes it possible for auto repair businesses to get right materials delivered to the right place and at the right time under the inventory management information system (Akindipe, 2014).
On the other hand, Tire Plus orders for materials that meet customer needs and preference. Identity in material ordering plays a critical in the success of the business. Muzumdar and Zinzuwadia (2015) argued that organizations must focus on maintaining customer satisfaction by challenging traditional product ordering process. Companies have transformed their supply chains from traditional processes to information-driven value chains to overcome challenges of the modern global economy. Order management has become an important part of the supply chain where companies always respond to changing customer delivery expectations (Muzumdar and Zinzuwadia, 2015). Tire Plus has achieved success in the auto repair facility business by maintaining good inventory and using reliable manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers making material ordering cheap and continuous.
Conclusion
Order management complexity causes many challenges that lead to increasing costs of supply in the supply chain, unreliability causing delays, and uneven flow of services because of the lack of enough materials to serve all customers. However, Tire Plus understands challenges of the global business environment and practices effective management. The company enjoys a constant supply of materials needed for vehicle maintenance and repair. Moreover, the presence of highly qualified mechanics capable of determining what consumer wants leads to the success of the organization in the automobile repair industry.
