Technology has made a great jump into the future. The evidence of this is the successful inventions in medicine. Helen Thomson, who discussed a method of focusing acoustic waves that excludes the need for some types of invasive surgeries claims that “invasive surgeries are becoming a thing of the past, thanks to a clever way of focusing acoustic waves”. It is about no scalpels, no blood, and pieces of flesh or bone as Helen Thomson states. The method was used on a woman named Phyllis who had brain surgery for the treatment of neurological disorder. The finding is that, the practitioner places a cap up on her head and flips a relay. Then a small region of her brain heats up and burns. However, the nearest brain cells are left intact. Thanks to such technology, one day can make a great contribution to the whole life of a person. This is an amazing way to get rid from the pain that has made her suffer for the 30 years. It is the example of a highly-developed technology in medicine that can be used by millions of people. Ultrasound waves converge at the focal point and give the opportunity to operate without harming the body. We can compare this process with magnifying glass that burns a piece of paper, and then we can realize a big progress of technology in medicine. It is unbelievable that something that people couldn`t even imagine can be done in a one day as in this case, it isn`t necessary to use anesthetics and cut the body during the operations.
Nowadays medical technologies are a trait not just of hospitals, but of homes too. The medical experience has been changed by computers, digitization, new materials and excellent laboratory research. This has been accompanied by patient anxiety about the risks and consequences of medical interference. From the Making the Modern World site it was extracted that “the introduction of new medical technology has not been so rapid in developing countries, but the sense of ambivalence is the same – technology represents both progress and threat”. It can`t be stated that though many of the modern discoveries were made accidently, they have greatly improved the life level. It is obviously that the medical advances in the future will be even bigger. Medical instruments include wheelchairs, contact lenses, stethoscopes and a lot of other items. All of them help us in a modern healthcare. Progressive medical technology lets doctors diagnose, assess and treat health conditions in safer, more efficient and more effective way and ultimately improve and increase the lives of patients.
New technologies are becoming a complex job. It is applied into different supplements with new accessible ways. Medical practitioners always prefer to obtain the device in their work for performing their profession in a proper way. It is obviously that technology has become a ‘partner of a mankind’ as development arises from time to time. The influence of it in hospitals is immense and it gives a newborn development in healthcare sphere. Technological advances in medicine during the past four centuries have not only changed methods of diagnosis, but they have altered the relationship between physician and patient and have influenced the systems of providing medical care and treatment. Although these innovations have resulted in valuable gains, there are also potential loses to the patient, to the physician as clinician, and to society. Stanley Joel Reiser claims that the modern physician in his close and continual applying of technological issues has become the prototype of technological man (301).
Nowadays patients can spend minor time in returning to a normal state of health thanks to medical innovations, for example, better controlling systems and easier scanning facilities. It should be paid attention to the fact that the progress of medical supplies has also created somehow related to robots surgeries and, very often, doctors don`t have to stay with the patient all the time during the surgery. Thus, patients can stay in a hospital that is close to their homes, excluding the inconveniences of related to health moving. However, there are other kinds of surgeries with the implementations of robots where the surgeon is still in the operating room, but the technology lets for a minimally invasive procedure that helps the patient to be less scarring. It is very important to say that scientists even can diagnose illnesses on a molecular level and procedure antidotes against them. Such vaccines avert the increase of life-threatening diseases and take care of millions of people. As it is written in Healthcare News & Insights, “the World Health Organization estimates that vaccines save about 3 million lives per year”. The development of innovations in the medical industry allows doctors with new methods to improve the degree of quality and the state of worldwide medical care. The medical industry all over the world continue to benefit by the means of technology`s enlargement with areas like illness preclusion, surgical manipulations, better access to information, and medical broadcasting.
It is for sure that innovations play a key point in medical technology. Different areas as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, the progress of medical instruments and many others make essential endowments to the health improving everywhere. Technological progress has made a great influence on medicine from small and big innovations like ankle braces, adhesive bandages, prosthetic body parts, artificial organs. As the effect of the evolution of brilliant innovations, we can keep on finding ways of improving them. The immense role of one of the most necessary benefits of integrating new technologies into medicine is the growing improvement dignity of life.
